Roy's Impeccable End Game Strategy

The GOAT (as Sky has appropriately named him) ... had the perfect strategy for the final 4.7 seconds in place. Yet, in spite of that perfect call to have 4 players guard the lane, somehow, UNC still lost. Well, at least Roy put his players in perfect position.

I don't get why the critics (even Doug Gottlieb, bless his heart, is critical of Roy!) are taking him to task. Why should Roy pressure the ball with a double team and make it hard for 'Nova to bring the ball across half court? I mean, there's only 4.7 seconds left!

And, when 'Nova is a guard dominated, 3 point shooting team, you have to watch for them to be sneaky and cross you up by going in the lane for the final shot. I think Roy knew something (through his late night film watching) - that 'Nova's real plan was to get into the lane for a layup and trick those UNC bigs into guarding the 3.

And, finally, not guarding the 3-point shooting guard/forward who inbounded the ball? How can anyone fault Roy for that strategy? I mean, it's going to take him a long time to run down the court from his own base line! I wouldn't doubt that Roy spent several late night's in the Dean Dome this past week, running that play himself and seeing how fast he could make it from his baseline to the 3 point line at the other end of the court. And, probably 10 out of 10 times, Roy didn't make it within 5 seconds. So, there's no way to expect a 240 lb player (who probably outweighs Roy by, what, 50-60-70 lbs?) to get there in 4.7!!!

OFC (turned 55 recently, so I think I've made the cut. :) ).

Roy is also the one who pointed out in his press game conference that he was the one who told his team that if they kept fighting they would have a chance at the end....Go ahead and pat yourself on the back, you nailed it coach!

I'm kinda surprised Roy isn't taking more crap today. They've dominates the paint all year and Brice didn't touch the ball. That was Novas plan obviously but they didn't really attempt it

That's why Roy cries so much. Makes fans feel sorry for him instead of giving him ish.

Agreed, Pisgah. And the same thing happened when we played them at the Dean Dome. Brice took one shot in the final 12 minutes... and Plumlee had 4 fouls!
