haven't yelled at you in a while......pro and I won our division at the Joe saylor tournament at Fawn Lake......where they have punch key locks on the on course bathrooms:scream:.....the pro got a hole in one on #15 and won a set of Adams clubs......but the most interesting thing was driving to Fredericksburg on the back roads the number of Trump/Pence signs dominated the hillary signs at least 10-1......this was Oct 20th and I just had an inkling then that the pollsters were wrong......had she not carried Richmond and the DC suburbs it wouldn't have been close.....in my area it was 70-30 Trump....and I think that all those letters from insurance companies containing big premium increases (my wife got the letter Oct 10th with a 100 a month increase) had a lot more to do with the end result than most think.......a very mistimed letter if ever there was one....

Glad you're still out there competing. I had a gut feeling that HRC was in trouble-the letter, comey, ...oh well, my candidates have lost before. I played the Honors yesterday. Coincidentally, I got this on my Facebook feed while driving home. It's quite a place-one of my best buds is a member. Their Member-Guest is the best. Peyton Manning is a member there and always plays in it. I'd love to join there but it's a 75 minute drive and I have better things to do with $50K. Which reminds me of the old saying....you don't need a boat-you need a friend with a boat. I have a friend at The Honors...http://www.golfdigest.com/gallery/t...ot-on-where-golf-courses-in-the-united-states

Yes. That is what they call their M-G. It's the best M-G event on the planet. Peyton plays. His brothers also usually play. Charlie Rhymer, who's also a member, plays. Food is fantastic. Great golf. It's a lot of fun.

Still consider my 76-71 the first two days there in the 2004 southern Am as good as I have played. All the way back, couldn't reach #5 in two, 495, and was tied with Webb Simson and had Roberto Castro by 3 after 36 holes. Didn't play as well the next 36 but finished 45th, I think.
That's great playing on that track. I played in the US Am qualifier there in 2000 or so. First time I'd ever seen it was the practice round the day before the 1st round and I shot 75. I knew it was hard but when my caddie said that if i put a couple 75s on the board the next day, I'd qualify. I thought he was full of ****. Turns out he was exactly right-149 made it. It's changed a bit since you played it. they lengthened 10 and 11 and 2 years ago they went to bermuda greens. they were extremely fast yesterday. It's a real treat to play there.

We walked in July and they had those big fans going and it was about 95 everyday. Greens were stimping around 12 and it was difficult. I think we played 10 around 425 or 440. 11 was 550.I believe that I heard they lengthened 17 also.

I remember that I beat one of Tiger's rounds there but he shot three rounds in the 60's and coasted.

They added a new tee on 17 for the US Jr Am-probably plays about 540 from back there. I played it from 476 yday and had 203 in. That greenside bunker is one of the deepest bunkers I've ever seen. I bet it's 20 feet from the bottom to the green. It's a great risk-reward hole-both off the tee and on the 2nd if going for the green in 2. And if you lay up, you're landing area is the narrowest fairway on the hole and it leaves a 3rd shot where you can't see the greens surface up that steep hill. Truly a great hole.

What's the bunker's name, big Bertha maybe?

I don't think I've ever heard a name for it.
Ithink that my caddie referred to it with that name. My caddie was Charlie Pak, from California. He was trying to get into dental school at Alabama. He drove a brand new Mercedes and I told him I was paying him too much. He had been accepted to Loma Linda Dental school, $250,000 for 4 years, and dad had offered to pay for dental school or a new car. He took the new car. I told him he should have taken dental school and then he could have bought himself a new car.

Ha! Caddies are a different breed! A funny caddie story-our former pro-Rich Spraker-a former Hokie player from your neck of the woods in Pulaski, I think, was playing Pebble in a Buick national pro-am. He hits a good drive on the par 5 18th and gets to his ball and pulls 3 wood. Bucky, his caddie, asks him what he's doing and Rich say I'm going to try and knock it on. Bucky say, "you ain't got that shot, pro?!". Hilarious! In another round, Rich has 150 yards into the wind and asks Bucky if he thinks he can get a 7 iron there. Bucky says, "yes, eventually".

My friend Tony Green talks about spraker.
