Click on his sig. A box will pop up. Then click on start a conversation. Be careful he's a crafty old fox. Winking

Hmmm... I didn't know how to do that either... but there is no "start conversation" when clicking on his sig (or yours or anyone's)

It has Profile Page and Follow, but that's it... unless you have to follow someone before you can start a conversation (even with an old person;-)

Lets try this. At the very top of the page on the right hand side right below your task bar you will see your sig. Next to that is an envelope & a flag. Click on the envelope. Does a drop down box pop up & does it say "start a conversation"?

I thought only premium members could use the PMs.
I'm not sure about that. Try clicking on someone's avatar. When the pop-up comes up, there should be a link that says "start a conversation" under your profile pic and username. Just click on that and type in who u want to message.

Nope, when I click on that envelope, all I see is: (I don't know how to post a screen shot since it's not a URL to paste)

Conversations
You have no recent conversations.
Show All...

When I click on c2o's or Kaz's avatar or name link, a black window pops up that says:

I'm pretty sure the PM function is only available for paying members. It was something discussed before the forums overhaul. I think it's lame of HOL not to give everyone that right. However, this is a private site with their business model. It is a feature that the site admin finds of value. To me it's a form of communication that shouldn't be limited by class structure. If HOL is not going to allow free board members the use of PMs then they should provide a readily available contact method as they did previously.

Hi Sparky,

I tried this too and never saw a start conversation pop up box.

Hmm, well that does stink, but I suppose if it isn't going to be an option, I like rrt's idea to request the admin to start a conversation with you if you need to speak privately with them.
