Hopefully will help. Players can just fake injury before the ball is spotted, but it should cut down on the players looking to the sideline for a coach to tell them to go down.
That's part of the rule.Doesn't go far enough. The only solution is the simplest solution. Any player who is "injured" and requires a stoppage of play, regardless of when the "injury" occurs should have to sit out until there is a change of possession. This should be done for the safety of the players. It is dangerous to allow injured players to return to play after one play.
No, it's not. The player has to sit out for one play. That's part of the rule.
That makes too much sense to be adopted by the rules committeeDoesn't go far enough. The only solution is the simplest solution. Doesn't really do much for 2 deep rostersNo, it's not. The player has to sit out for one play.

The penalty for faking an injury should be an unsportsmanlike call or personal foul with 15 yards and a 1st down.

Those last 2 changes are stupid. What if more than 1 player is attempting to recover a loose ball. Simulating brandishing a weapon is a penalty?
That's exactly what I wrote in my letter to Saban....Doesn't go far enough. The only solution is the simplest solution. You have to hope that doesn't happen.Sellers turns his ankle against BAMA when we're down in a late 4th quarter drive to try to take the lead.
He eventually pops up looking good to go only to be ushered the wood for the remainder of that drive.
Enter Doty.
You know this is what happens for us the minute your new rule goes into effect.![]()
You have to hope that doesn't happen.
Under the current rules; we are leading Bama late, Bama has no timeouts and is flying down the field needing a td to win, after every play, a Bama player fakes an injury before the ball is set for play and the clock is stopped and Bama gets time to get in a play, get aligned and ready to snap as soon as the whistle blows giving them ample time to score. The "injured" player simply has to sit out one play and come back in when the next "designated injury player" stops play.
I saw it in a lot of games the last few years. The opposing fans of the team faking injuries boos and cusses but the team doing it doesn't care. As long as it benefits a team and there is no real penalty, fake injuries will continue.Yep. I don't feel like we saw alot of this though last season unless I missed it? If a team appears to try it once, the fans are usually all over them and it usually stops.
