I am old enough to remember Adolph Rupp very well. Enjoyed listening to his post game shows. Tev Laudeman in The Rupp Years talks about him "holding court" with the sports writers when they would travel to New York. He was good friends with the legendary pro coaches of the day. He told the UK hiring committee they should hire him because he was the best damn coach in the country.

So to review, the last time the Vikings were in a Super Bowl:

Elvis was still alive.
Lynard Skynard’s plane had not crashed
Adolph Rupp was still alive

Its been a minute for the Vikes my peeps.

He was before my time but the best coach to ever coach at the University of Kentucky! 47 years since he's been gone and still he's a staple of our program! Wish I would've got to see the Barron work his magic glad I get to see the highlights and the fruit of his labor to this day! Gone but never forgotten Adolph Rupp you are the best to ever do it!

The terrible tornados were 3 years ago today.

Didn’t realize then it was Rupp’s date of death.

Never thought about Rupp passing right after the Evansville basketball team crash either.

Got that backwards. He died right before the plane crash. That anniversary is this Friday, the 13th.

I think it's great you're a UK fan. But you kind of made me mad hitting that pinch hit 3 run HR off Eastwick to tie the 75 world series game.

I think we beat Kansas the night he passed.
Yes we did, Valentine for Kansas was leading scorer (he is actually my all time favorite kansas player) do no like many others for them. At kansas IIRC. We won by like 6 or 8 points.

My Aunt and her husband were close friends with Coach Rupp and Esther.
I met him at his farm one time. Pretty certain it was a highlight for Coach Rupp.

Elvis is in an old folks home in Bardstown. Saw him myself. Can't convince me otherwise.

As far as Rupp goes? Dude won 82% of his games. Best ever. Can't convince me otherwise.
If coach Rupp had coached as many games as Mike Krzyzewski did. Rupp would have close to 1,300 wins.
