Right now, someone in New Jersey is saying, "Northwestern? More like North-worst-ern, amirite?"

Both ships are sinking and yet taunt each other all the way down to the ocean floor.
Both programs are perceived differently. Northwestern still has a solid team, but are missing opportunities to build on the success of 2 years ago. Rutgers, on the other hand, is young and continues to show improvement. Rutgers has one senior on the team.

Solid team is a stretch... and I wasn't referencing the direction of each program just the results of this campaign.

Perceived by? Talk to NU about future “hope” after our two best players were Sophomores on our only NCAA team. Most of us thought we would be top half of the conference at minimum for the last 2 years as they were upperclassmen.

I doubt the top end programs are worried about either.

Rutgers has to fight over the screens or switch. Switching will lead to match-up issues. This is why I say speed up the game.

Every program sees itself in a bubble. I'm telling you Northwestern doesn't have that negative view you're mentioning. I watch the NW/Iowa game I would have never known NW was having a bad year. I think your perception is based on what you read or hear from opposing idiot Big Ten fanbases. It's their way of making themselves feel better. People hang on to stereotypes from yesteryear.
I guess Michigan will have to rethink about ignoring/worrying bottomfeeders? Winning road games in the Big Ten isn't easy.

My perception is based on seeing the team live a half dozen times and on the idiot box the rest of the season. I could care less what opposing “idiot” fan bases think. Go ahead a base your opinion on an Iowa game that clearly showed we have major problems but giving away a 15 point lead in 4 minutes. Sorry, I can’t make that a glass half full game.

Reread his post. Ii is actually well thought out. It is the outside perception of our team, like it or not.

Naaah - it’s the outside perception of someone who saw NU’s best 36 minutes of the year — followed by a blown double-digit lead.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I believe the NU program still hasn’t elevated itself to be a well respected program. I support CCC and want him at NU, but the momentum that he gained for the program has come to a screeching halt. The program is now in the hands of Nance, Kopp, Beran, Buie, Jones etc now. If they aren’t a tourney team with this group leading the way, CCC will have some “splainin” to do.

So the guy who has watched just one of our games "gets it" ???? Maybe I'll stop watching every game and just re-read cubuffsdoug analysis of our team from the Iowa game.

I've watched 2 complete games (Iowa & Rutgers), but I've seen parts of other games. I do know NW needs a true PG. It would help the offense flow better. Besides, my view of NW is not the end all, be all. I'm just saying the situation from an outside perspective is not as bad as some of you are claiming.
