Rumors on the mat today that Ryan is transferring either to Oklahoma or Virginia Tech. Can't believe it would be Oklahoma so I am going with VT. He came in highly ranked and due to a combination of circumstances, bad back, and a stable of highly ranked wrestlers in the room at that weight he was never able to crack the lineup. Good wrestler and I wish him well in his future career. 2nd wrestler around this weight to transfer out of the program with Koo leaving last year.

Make that 3 if CM is transferring. I cannot really blame him and wish him the best of luck. You probably could have gone 5 deep at the 157 to 165 weight in our room that could have started at half of the D1 schools.

Smith would not release him to wrestle this year to a conference team would be my guess.

Good for him but missing on guys like Blees, Chance, and J Rogers is part of the problems we have faced in our title drought.

All very highly rated out of state guys expected to score major points but also who demand a good chunk of scholarship money and deservedly so.

I don't mean to diminish any of these especially Rogers who has been a fantastic member of our university and team and would love to see him get a chance to shut me up.

On FRL last week they made it seem like CM to Lochaven was a done deal.

This is probably the best outcome for all the parties involved. They get a chance to start and OSU opens up some scholarship money.

I heard a month ago that he was going to Lock Haven and it was from the room. Good for him and Blees getting a chance to prove themselves some where else. I would also say it will be VT for Blees (I haven't heard from anybody on him, just guessing). John has some money to spend now! There still could be another wrestler transferring.

Not everyone who cannot win a starting position wants to leave OSU to become a starter. I was the number two man 3 of my 4 years at OSU and never had any desire to transfer. I'm very happy with my decision to stay a cowboy even though I only started in one dual my entire career.
Awesome post man. Kudos to you for sticking it out even though things didn't always work out in your favor.

#1. Guys like you are the real reason for success in a program. Without a room full of goof Wrestlers that want to work hard and get better, actually drive the guy in front of them.

#2. A man that wants to be successful doesn't run and hide from a challenge. They either figure out how to win, or continue to work on figuring it out.

Until the "one dual" comment, I thought you might be a former heavyweight from the '80's.

maybe its a known thing, but can you tell us who you were behind? if you dont want to elaborate I understand also. thanks in advance and I agree, without high quality backups programs can never stay on top. have to have a room full of #1 competing to make everyone better all the time.

As a sophomore behind senior Tommy Green 3rd NCAA, junior beHind sophomore Ray Stapp 2nd NCAA, senior behind Stapp 3rd NCAA. Ray was a 3 time AA, you could not compete as a freshman in those days. Ray won the National Jr College Championship as a freshman then transferred to OSU. I was honored to workout with some really great wrestlers. I wasn't one of them. The Keller twins, Ron Thrasher and Fujita along with Ray worked me over in the practice room. It was hard work but a great experience.

I appreciate your willingness to help the team.
