I saw elsewhere that Goodwin said NU and Illinois are recruiting him the hardest.

Goodwin just offered by Michigan State per his twitter... will be an uphill battle for us from here on out he's really beginning to get a lot of national attention.

I talked to a source yesterday, and despite the fact that Goodwin is blowing up, NU still feels pretty good about their chances. Remember, they were in early and have been working on him for quite a while now. MSU is obviously a huge offer, but we will see how things pan out.

If you include Eastern and NU happens to pull down any one of these guys, it might be the highest-rated recruit NU has ever had outside Eschmeyer.

Get two of them, and the shock of it will probably propel me into a heart attack.

I still have a faint hope that Eastern will commit, but the tea leaves (and some solid evidence) say it's not going to happen for NU. I know everyone says he's going to MSU, but he's been on that campus four or five times, and still hasn't committed. I know it's early, but if you haven't committed to THAT program after four or five visits, something is off about the fit.

Also saw a nice little video interview of him from early April. Take a look at the first two schools he mentions right off the bat when asked who he has offers from. I don't think NU's chances are horrible.

Fingers crossed.

Collins won't be able to land every top kid, but at least he's being considered by the top players. The more "shots on net" he gets, so to speak, the more likely he can land a top prospect.

Eastern or Goodwin would be a huge get. I only hear good about Eastern's character. There's a Northwestern U. office on the first floor of ETHS. I think it'll depend a lot on his mom and how she feels about driving a long time to his games.

For those of us at work and not able to watch the video, I presume we're one of those two schools?

The first two schools mentioned quickly are Purdue and Northwestern. You could also lump Missouri with those two. Then he pauses to list St. Louis, UIC ... and then Michigan State as well as a bunch of others he rattles off. He also says he visited Purdue, NU and MSU (before his high school season?)

Purdue, NU and Missouri have been consistent throughout his recruiting process.

If I'm MSU, I can't feel good about being listed after StL and UIC.

Admittedly, this is probably COMPLETE Internet over-analysis of the comments of a high school kid.
