During a signing day ceremony at Sebastian River High School in Florida, Parks announced, through tears, that he hadn’t decided who to sign with. A top-100 recruit, Parks was planning to head to Tuscaloosa, but apparently learned the Crimson Tide didn’t have room to take him.

A bit later it was announced that Parks had committed to Alabama, but will be attending as a “greyshirt,” meaning he won’t be able to enroll until January. Typically, greyshirting players pay their own way at a junior college for a semester before attending their chosen college.

While it appears Parks will wind up where he wanted to go, how awful for this kid to have a huge ceremony planned and have it end in tears.

To be clear, colleges are constantly in contact with these kids. There is zero chance Parks knew there was a possibility that he didn’t have a spot with Alabama. He almost certainly had the rug pulled out from under him by Nick Saban and company. That happens from time to time but the fact that he was clearly unaware of the possibility is disturbing to say the least.

When Petrino did this, he was denounced as a "terrorist "

Petrino wasnt the first, and we knew he wasnt going to be the last.
Petrino's real crime was the continued embarrassment of SEC shenanigans.

Will Saban get the same treatment............

Saban is a complete a$$. My cousin was playing at Toledo when Saban took over as their coach. My cousin had a serious back injury during a game. Saban cut him without honoring his scholarship. Which is well within his rights but awful dirty in my book. JA for sure.

I don't esp. have any remorse for the kid anymore than I did for the Colburn kid. Colburn over-reached and was lucky to have ANY scholly here. This Bama kid probably did as well. If they want unconditional offers, they need to move down a notch in their school choices.

Also can't get too uptight because a kid is asked to attend an extra year of college. Perish the thought...

I always wondered why people thought we were too good for Colburn. Pretty sure he was Mr. South Carolina football. That was nothing to sneeze at.

Marshall
Mercer
ODU
Presbyterian
So Carolina State

Hopefully he hasn't sent in his LOI to Alabama yet, and UofL can get him on campus for a visit. Situations like this is one of the reasons why Petrino always likes to keep one or two scholarships open....

So how does Saban's treatment by the media, comparatively speaking, relate to these comments in the OP?

Hope so. And Petrino has always shown an ability to get a few surprises to campus.

This season will be special.
