That does show a lot. Thank God Riley is getting the talent here now. And if given enough time to load the talent back up and time to coach them up, i really feel he will do a great job here. Maybe not win a MNC here but he will have a solid Husker coaching career.

That was about the time Bo was pretty much all in trying to get out of here and had really kind of mailed it in. He was never a great recruiter by any means, but his first few classes weren't horrible. Then things started to get worse when he was lobbying for jobs behind the scenes and he thought he wouldn't be around here much longer.

I don't get why people are surprised. He literally told the team that in his "adult" message to them after he got what he wad begging to get (fired). There is no reason to act surprised now.

Per Sam, 33/52 never showed up, left early, had a career ending injury transferred out without playing a significant down at Nebraska, have only been special teams contributors so far or left early, not using their full number of years. Of the remaining 19, seven have finished their careers. Interestingly, the 2013 class had a rivals rank of 17, but I count only 9 of the 25 recruits that year as contributing. Knevel and Marcus Newby remain as 5th year seniors from that class. About half of the 2014 class look to be contributors.
That highly ranked 2013 class did have guys like Collins, Gregory, Bando, and Gerry, but didn't come anywhere near living up to its ranking.

That's what I was angling at for all those years in saying they needed to learn out to deal with some of the egos they were trying to bring in and not lose 4* kids to transfers. But people wanna go all, "If he doesn't wanna bleed Husker Red the eff him!"

It's not that simple. You bring in elite kids, it's gonna be a tough adjustment when the show up and they're back to square one and not elite any more. You can't just tell them to love it or GTFO, you have to be able to reach them and keep them on board long enough that they start to see the benefits.

Some kids are a 4* athletic talent but have a 2* emotional IQ. If you are not being intentional in your recruiting, those might be the kids you end up with.

Personally, I think ADSE gets too much bad pub on here. But in this case, I think Eichorst does deserve an assist for our drop in overall talent level. Bo had checked out under assumption he was going to be fired, and to let him come back as dead man walking for another year served no purpose. And it had the very predictable result of making the cupboard that much more bare for what was the inevitable transition.

Exactly. He thought he could turn Jay Guy into a Suh or Crick. News flash...you gotta get off your lazy *** and get the talent here first. Something his ego couldn't comprehend. Once Callahans boys were drafted...the defensive guru was just another regular coach. Buh bye
