I got one free last week when I got the Galaxy 7. It seems pretty cool. Anyone played with it and have any suggestions for downloading some apps?

Is there something in GYERO or one of those threads that I never read that requires someone to make that exact comment every time I post something? I find it kind of amusing.

I feel like you should be the one giving us suggestions for downloading some apps. Since you got it for free and all.

It's pretty cool, but pretty limited at the same time. I see it as the perfect thing to let family and friends try out, just like they do in the commercials. There are some real cool games and VR movies that really make people jump (Jurassic Park has one that's pretty cool).

Still, aside from watching some cool movies and a few time-killing games, there isn't much else. It's also been known to brick people's phones.

If VR interests you, you should take the next step and look at HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.

I feel like this is the only reason anyone opened this thread.

Where do we stand from a content and technology perspective?

I did some research since I knew you all would ask about it. The only thing good about it is it makes things hands free. The videos just get distorted when trying to show up as VR. I also did other research for you all and looked up videos on other sites that were specifically supposed to be in VR. They also were a letdown. They basically take a standard video and try to convert it and it ends up stretching out the image. To properly do it right you need a camera that shoots in 360° and that wouldn't work very well unless there is a group of people on multiple sides of the camera. About the best option right now is to watch POV videos and it is sort of like VR.

I am disappointed because I would have hoped we would be at the Demolition Man VR porn level by now.

Technically though we still have about 16 more years to get to the same point in time as that.

1 - In my front pocket, 3 inches from my junk
2 - Strapped to my face, 3 inches from my eyeballs

Top two places I'd never, ever, ever consider putting a Samsung device. No way, no how!
