Apologies if already posted. I don’t think this is surprising to anyone. Curious what we think about their roster next season. I’m not anticipating it’s anywhere close to as good as this year but still pretty talented.

They are going to look like a classic Cal Kentucky team….most of the impact guys are going to be very young. Only upperclassman projects to be Foster. What is interesting is they need better lead guards IMO and Sarr helps but they seem scared of upsetting the Boozer’s after Lucas left for Miami so they haven’t until now recruited over the smaller Boozer. The ACC is so weak they should easily finish Top Two again with UL but I think they will be closer to a #4-#5 seed next year.

EDIT: I forgot about Brown the defensive maestro. He is great in his role but isn’t much on offense.

Agree about your first point. Young and I don’t see a ton of shooters on their team this season.

Duke had a pretty quiet off season. Granted they had their recruiting class all set, but I believe thats just 4 guys and only one is really projected to be an impact player. They will run through the ACC, and then top out around the Sweet16 imo. Replacing Flagg, Ripple and Maluach.. 3 lottery talents.. is never easy. Even Cal and K had trouble with that sort of turnover and Scheyer is not on their level with making 1AD work (or in K's case, general coaching ability).

Agree, I think Scheyer is holding them back. I asked this of a Duke friend, and all he could really counter was "he needs more time".

To offer some of the most money to recruits in the modern era (both NIL and under the table), have some of the best talent, get helped by the NCAA and media.. and you pretty much fall short every year based on expectations.. that points to coaching. Hes starting on 2nd base and cant make it to home.

Duke got a good one I think. Good for them. Hope we shut him down if we play them. That Pope interview on KSR where Matt Jones is hearing it will not be Duke playing in Rupp for ACC challenge game. I am guessing it will be NC State, Wake Forest, or one of the middling teams of the ACC.

We’re currently in a world where the top programs in NIL are guaranteed to have great rosters on paper going into every season. Duke(and others) have it rolling so good that they pluck a top transfer going through the draft process and have already replaced him with another top talent before the first even officially announces he’s staying in the draft.

Duke will be very very talented. How it all comes together for them and any of the top 10-15 teams remains to be seen.

Not much drama for them in recruiting. If they really want someone, no one can match the money. Thankfully their coach is mediocre.

Mediocre is much better for us than him sucking. If he sucked, hed get fired. Mediocre will keep him around forever.

They will be very good again, this year was their year to get it done though. Boozer is good but alone him and Sarr have a lot of work to do. I could see a final 4 or round of 32 loss. All about how good they can be. Losing Henderson hurts a little. Another younger player but a high quality one. Depth would be their strength again, but a lot of key players will yet again be young.

Key returning players like Caleb Foster, Maliq Brown, Patrick Ngongba II, Isaiah Evans, and Darren Harris. The roster will also feature new additions, including the Boozer twins, Cameron and Cayden Boozer, and Nikolas Khamenia, and Dame Sarr. They have a transfer from Rutgers and Coward. His decision is kinda huge. With him they have even more NBA upside and another proven player. Regardless they have 9-10 high quality players. I’d say like usual they will play 7 the majority of minutes. Getting Coward/Sarr/Boozer/Foster/Boozer would be a great lineup. Kinda lacking some reserve PG players.

Overall defiantly a top 5ish talent level group in CBB except only one real lottery level talent with some fringe mid first rounders like Sarr and Coward if he comes.

Rd of 32, EE, FF… I wish he was more mediocre AND they didn’t get everyone they wanted. Even Cal finally won a title.. Sheyer keeps knocking on the door and I hate it.

Could be wrong….but I don’t think Sarr signs unless Coward is gone.

Scheyer is winning at Duke at a higher rate than Coach K. He’s knocking it out of the park thus far. At least we get to watch UNC wither away with a bad coaching hire.

I think Scheyer is vastly overrated so they'll get a 2-3 seed and then lose 2nd weekend, sat/sun first weekend not out of the equation.
I am no fan, but you can’t deny that Scheyer has been great in his first 3 years. He’s winning at a higher % than Coach K did and has an E8 and a F4 already. Duke’s recruiting has not been affected either, we’re going to be contending with Scheyer for a long time.

Lol that Sarr is quoted as saying a big reason he chose Duke was playing with Jabari Parker and what Parker had to say about Duke.

Forget the fact that the NBA semis are filled with past UK players.. but someone might want to tell Sarr about Parkers absolute nosedive after going to Duke.
I mean, injuries were Parker's downfall.

Projected Starters

G Foster(6’5 JR)
G Sarr(6’6 FR)
G Evans(6’6 SO)
F Boozer(6’9 FR)
F Ngongba(6’11 SO)

That’s some really good length all around.

Looks like a Cal lineup circa 2015.

Long and athletic, but minimal experience.

Not a lot of bench firepower. Brown, the Rice transfer (Ufochukwu) and some Freshmen, I believe.

I’m thinking top 15-20, but not top 10. Probably a Sweet Sixteen team. They’ll compete with UofL for the ACC title.

Yep I agree- not sure what the knock is on Scheyer- all he does is win
