Mardesen loses 9-4 to a talented #3 Walz and will wrestle for 5th.

Walz much more active. Mardsen offered very little offense. It wasn't a close match.

Looks like Penn State, Iowa and Virginia Tech also have 6 AAs. I don't see anyone else with more than 4 (Ohio St. & Mizzou each have 4).

Collica drops a tough close one 3-2 in the rematch with #3 Mayes.

He will finish 4th. Great year for him.

High paced and he was in deep on a few shots. Mayes is quick and athletic.

Heck of a tournament for Collica. Kid just went for it. Can't wait to watch him next year. Watching him and Boyd develop has been a blast.

Joe Smith wins 6-2! Tough draw for him against the #2 seed.

He finishes a great year in 7th. Again he is the only true FR to AA. Has a chance to be a multiple time title contender and winner.

Man a 100% healthy and tuned up Smith would have made this weight much more interesting at the top.

Boyd sort of got blitzed right out of the gate (I think he was caught a bit off guard) and was just never able to recover. Renda was a buzz saw this tourney.

He was turned a few times and it got ugly. He loses by 18-3 (6 mins of RT).

He finishes 4th and despite this loss what a season for a kid who many questioned his spot in the lineup and almost no one expected much from him in his career here.

Nolan had no answer for Renda in that match. Tough way to end a great tournament by Nolan but he places 4th and seeded 8th so wrestled well above his seed. Gotta love a kid like Nolan who has improved as much as he has this season and gives you 7 minutes hard every match. Great job Nolan Boyd!!!!

Wow. Mardsen with a disappointing finish as he was pinned by the 7th seed.

He got in very deep on a shot but was countered and after a bit of a scramble was put on his back.

He finishes 6th. Despite maybe some disappointing results in March he will be hard to replace and missed.

Isn't Myles Martin a true freshman?

Yes , Martin is a true freshman. I really enjoyed the finals with our wins and Penn. St and Iowa losses. I also liked the HWT results. Dieringer should be the outstanding wrestler and the Hodge winner.
