Kai Slater is expecting HUGE performances from UK, especially from our defense, now that Stoops is taking on some of the coaching duties on that side of the ball. Wow!!! I am so AMPED for this game. It will be the turnaround game that Big Blue Nation has been CRAVING !!!! Just wait and see. They have been backed into a corner now and MUST respond.

if we win by 30 then we were suppose to. If we lose then the season is over for most people. No win situation. The South Carolina game is the telling sign.
If we somehow were to lose on Saturday, Stoops should do the honorable thing and resign at the post-game press conference.

The OP is correct. Winning on Sat means very little. Stoops didn't get this job to beat the likes of NMSU; he got it to beat USC Vandy Mizzou, etc in SEC play.

I think we cover. If the defense can become semi competent against the run trying to cheat up with the secondary to do so then we can beat SC as well. But I still doubt we win out on the games that we'd have to win to get to have a shot 6 wins. Missouri probably beats us. Vandy probably beats us and I have a feelin the Mississippi State game could be 21+ loss if we don't fix some glaring issues.

I don't think Saturday will tell us much in terms of status of the program, but rather how much we improve or regress this week as result of Stoops getting "more involved."

If we see the defense improve their discipline, focus, scheme, then that's telling us that maybe Stoops can still salvage... Something. I think we'd be able to tell even against a team like NMSU.

However, like OP says, the real test (supposing we win against NMSU) would be SCar the next week.

And he beat two of those three last year.

You're half correct. A 20+ point win won't say much but a tight win or (shudder) a loss as a 19 point home fav will say an awful lot.

And yes, right now SC looms as Game of the Year.

I agree that Saturday tells us very little but I'm not taking much away anything from USCjr either. If UK wins that one the sign for me of where the season goes teeters on Vandy. Bama is going to run through us. How the team responds to a what I think is a okay Vandy team after a beatdown shows what moxie this team has or doesn't have.

I don't think I could be more depressed/disappointed than I already am. Saturday's game means very little to me either way. We win, we are supposed to. We lose? Not shocking at all.

You're right that a win won't really say much, but it very well could go a long way. The team needs a win. They need their confidence boosted. I don't really know what happened to them in the Southern Miss game, but you could really just see it. They got punched and they went down and they stayed down. They went into Florida with no confidence and that lack of confidence was pretty much confirmed with the first offensive play. Now we have a much weaker team and we have to be able to throw the punches at them and build confidence and remember what it is like to win. Kentucky needs to absolutely crush them. It won't really tell us fans that the team has improved, but the team has to have a big time victory in order to bring back some faith.

This game can tell us some things. Lose and the season that looks done, IS done and Stoops should not coach another game at UK. Win the game by 30 plus and actually look like a football team doing it and maybe we can all sit back and just see what happens vs USC. 2-2 feels a lot better than 0-2

How can you not take much away from the South Carolina game, but vandy means more? Didn't USC beat vandy on the road?

We have beaten USCjr the last 2 years. that's why it tells us nothing. And we lost to Vandy last year. USC may be able to barely beat Vandy(that game was 100% even, USCjr just got the last punch) but we haven't proven to be able to beat Vandy. USCjr beat Vandy last year too but we were unable to. I cant wait to see the hilarious BBN go wild for the 3rd year in a row if they pull off another win vs USC and see the lair sunshine pumpers tell us that's a sign....for the third. year. in a row.

If we beat both, I will be glad. More important, I want to look like a good team doing it.

Seems every game we have a chance to win is "not important". If we win against USC, vandy will be oh let's wait to MSU. Doesn't fit their agenda and the "I was right mentalitly, on a message board so HaHA!" I want Kentucky to finish 10-2. I know it won't happen, but I swear some fans would be upset.

In the thread about going 6-6 (which was what everyone wanted to see as improvement and step towards next year) people are complaint that they would not be good wins. I honestly think most fans want you to struggle year after year!

I think a big issue is fans want other fans to accept horrendous football. I want the team to be successful and have seen enough to know that our team is poorly coached. Listening to sports commentators talk about how Kentucky is the states "biggest junior college" was and is still embarrassing. Any "fans" that would be upset over a 10-2 season are what we like to call trolls. Lol

I'll be looking at the actual attendance. If there are only 20-25K people in the stands, Mitch may have to deal with the problem sooner.

I just hope we win by a comfortable margin and look like we are coached on defense. Regardless of opponent, it'll be nice to get a win.

Well if we lose it could tell us the end of this staff is near or maybe a forgone conclusion , it's not an empty shell of a game .

That's a good point. It would get really ugly if the team loses that game. It should be an easy win for the team though.
