It's a religion. Kinda like the rest of them. You just gotta have faith.
I answered your question from the homosexuality thread in a private conversation. I got locked out of the thread so I could not answer it.
A bunch of made up fairy tales, and a hierarchy mostly based on financial contributions.

Forty years ago I picked up a paperback book on Scientology from the bookstore out of curiosity. The book had a little card stuck in it that said for more info about Scientology mail this card in, so before reading the book I filled it out and mailed it in. After that for at lest the next 20 years I was constantly receiving mail and for a time phone calls from this bunch trying to convince me to join their organization. They were relentless.
The Church of Scientology's got nothing on the Nation of Islam. If you want to read some crazy stuff, check out what Louis Farrakhan believes.

I remember them advertising that Dianetics book like crazy on TV back in the 80s.

People need religion for two reasons. To fool themselves or to fool others.
All I know is they set up headquarters in my hometown of Clearwater, Florida and totally destroyed the place. They took over the school board, the police department and local government. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ . I had to leave to get away from them as did most of my friends
