Patty ice yelling at a texter because the text had called them out about why they acting as if Scruggs was actually coming. Just acting like it's the end of the world i quit listening. They are really acting as if Mack has another recruiting miss their was a 5 percent chance he was coming this kid wants to get paid playing pro ball period.
Recruiting landscape is constantly changing. When players are allowed to transfer play immediately it will only become more fluid. It will be like free agency in the Pro’s
Never got the sense that he wanted to be a student. Playing professionally appears to have been his plan a,b and c.
Uh, I’m not surprised. In fact, I would have been totally surprised if he actually showed up here. And I got that impression from the get go. I understand CCM doing the LOI thing just to protect the local turf for UofL, but there really cannot be any surprise that this happened. Being a student just wasn’t in Scrugg’s playbook.

Everything I've read and heard about this guy felt like he was never coming to the Cards, and had he decided to, he wouldn't have been a good fit. I wish him the best and no sour grapes from me. His decision was best for both the Cards and him.
What stinks about this whole deal with Scrubb is that Mack had to recruit him. Then, Scrubb’s commitment cost the Cards other players that went elsewhere. So Scrubb actually cost us two or more players.
Yeah if Mack didn’t recruit him and say Scrubb committed to like Memphis everyone would’ve gone insane. It was a lose lose situation unfortunately.
I've seen him play a dozen or so times at John A Logan, I work through the week just a few miles from the school.. He is no way ready to play at the NBA level. I think most fans would have been disappointed if he had showed up here after all the hype. His defense is weak and his attitude is not the best. I think if he had showed up here the team aspect would've taken a backseat to him trying to impress scouts.
He would not have been a good fit here.
Even though I had not gotten an opportunity to watch him play, this is what I suspected from all of the reports that I read during his recruitment. I would have been totally surprised if he had actually chosen to come to UofL. This said, I am pleased that CCM signed him to an LOI just to quell all of the BS complaining if he hadn’t signed this kid. Hopefully, we’ll get some other guy that can offer immediate help.

He would have been challenging for the staff. That’s sugar coating it real nicely.
You mean making it to the 2nd round NCAA tournament before losing to Duke? Dawkins is a decent coach and I always liked Vince Taylor when he was here on staff.
If you think maybe you should look at 2019 not 2018
At Central Florida, Perry will be joining a team that went 16-14 overall and 7-11 in the American Athletic Conference last season. It was a step down after a terrific 2018-19 season in which the Knights won 24 games and nearly upset No. 1 overall seed Duke in the second round of the NCAA tournament

Good luck to him though and to UCf he gets to be the starter at point guard their. Going to be interesting only because he got the chance more than enough at both guard spots to show what he could do on a consistent basis and he failed at it IMOP . That's on him and the reason i was never sold on him as a player . His career summed up in the next 3 sentences for the most part.

And yet although averaging less minutes than a grad senior transfer Kimble, Perry managed to average slightly more points and having nearly almost identical stats in other categories as a Junior. Perry had the 3rd highest 3 pt FG percentage for guys with substantial minutes. It’s clear you want to hate on someone but the simple truth was he just didn’t obviously meet Mack’s expectations. To Mack’s credit, Perry did start a lot of games but often went to the bench early. I expected more from him but I’m going to wish him well and not kick him on his way out.
Kimble was a 1st year player basically in Macks system. Perry should be better based on that alone not too mention Kimble had to bring his game up a whole level in competition .and actually won a few games for us that's a fact. Plus Kimble was already known as not being a good shooter his job was to be a point guard distribute .Something Perry got a chance to doevery dam time he would do some dumb chit . A fact and on film. Why Mack had to yank his *** every time. I just feel a place like UCF is better for him a diffrent lower level of expectations that's not hating . I said good luck too him!. He was just someone i didn't care for as a player bb skill wise. We all have our own opinions whether right or wrong !
Kimble and Perry are great kids. This type of discussion comes down to how a fan views college athletics in general.
If you're a pro-support positive vibe kind of fan that appreciates the effort and acknowedges these players are amateurs doing the best they can criticism would be limited.
If you are more into results and production and less focused on the amateurism part of the game from the judgemental perspective, you'd be comfortable saying neither Perry or Kimble were all that good and they were not the level of player required to be seeing heavy playing time for a great team. These guys would both be considered massively less productive than....for example... a Russ or Siva or Rozier...simply put.... they were not upper tier performers and they will have little to no legacy other than being "on the team"...
Just depends on your mindset. I mostly prefer to appreciate all former players regardless of performance but that's just one POV. Guys that wore the uni will always have a place in my heart.

Third paragraph is me that comes from my background of being retired from the combat arms branch of the U.S Army and civilian Law Enforcement . I'm all about the end result if you lose one man on a mission it
's considered a failure every body comes home .
This is what is wrong with today's society to soft and sentimental the everybody gets a participation trophy syndrome. No you earn your award my last years in the military these new soilders are soft i came in when Drill Sgt's cold still curse you out 80'a and we exercised in boots. You cant even curse at troops anymore they have stress cards lol . Even the new police offiicers are scared to patrol on foot i'm a hard ole school type guy.

To those that have served our country either in the armed services or as a first responder I thank you from the bottom of my heart. But beyond that I’m not sure why we are still discussing Scrubb. He didn’t want to be here, period. I wish him well in his future endeavors.

He’s talking about Perry and he’s making the comment that he never should have been a Cardinal. He’s not good enough, never was and belongs at a school like UCF. That sum it right Red?
Maybe here’s the issue. This is college athletics not wartime military. This is not life and death although some behave as it is. I was entirely like that until real life experiences showed me that sports is entertainment. Perry didn’t do anything deliberately against U of L fans.

No I never said he shouldn't have been a Cardinal . i wanted every player that is recruited to this school to work out however that is not ever going too happen in life period. My responses toward Perry are based on his inconsistent play during his time here and feel after three years of watching his game he seems more suited for a program that doesn't expect a higher level of play each game. And it's obvious CCM stated in a interview about Perry he wished for just a little more consistency. Were some seem too think he was a success . I just beg to differ on him.
Perry could shoot the 3, was certainly NOT soft, and sure did appear to be a good teammate.
He also got a quick hook at times, maybe not always his fault, and certainly not easy to play "looking over your shoulder"....
OTOH, the dude took a ton of ill-advised shots and went "off script" a few too many times. Just lots of errors in judgement between the lines. There seemed to be a lack of self-awareness in regards to limitations. I think this frustrated Mack too much, which produced the inconsistency. He was clearly trending the wrong direction heading into a SR year... the change of scenery seemed like writing on the wall.
And yeah this ain't the military, or cops and robbers. Got to understand context. These guys aren't receiving a paycheck every 2 weeks, and signing up to be in life/death situations. They signed up to play a sport, do at the minimum enough work in the classroom to retain eligibility, and basically carry themselves in a positive manner.
With the transfer rules allowing players more freedom, colleges viewed as a pit-stop to pro-ball for most....you can probably eliminate old school philosophy overall, it just ain't that applicable. At least not entirely. If you can't come to grips with that, this prolly ain't the sport for you as a fan!

Always liked Perry. Sad to see him leave but understand it. I agree with Hop that he seemed to get pulled quick at times compared to others. Maybe because of the position he was playing or maybe the style he signed up for left when Pitino got fired. Doesn't matter now. I hope he does well at UCF. Seems like a good kid.
Just as i said the mentality of everybody get a trophy passive aggressive thinking not for me. The most sucessful people are the hungry ones Kobe and Jordan spoke of this mentality. This is the one thing that i like about Calipari he coaches take whats yours or get off the court. Why they bring it against us all the time.
That last Derby City Classic was a great day and seemed so long ago and so much has changed.
Rick was still coaching and I was going to watch Malik Williams, Jordan Nwora, Lance Thomas, and Darius Perry with such excitement.
Everyone there that day knew the Alexander kid from Kentucky didn’t belong and was going to be a star. But behind him, Darius Perry put on an absolute show in that game.
We had that group and were gonna pair them with Q, Deng Adel, Ray, Anas, and a returning VJ King. We had a great 2018 class lined up, with Romeo Langford not long behind.
Alas, nothing can be perfect for too long. Those guys get to work with Rick and then he’s removed. The whole staff is gone. They get a guy who ha a never coached to run the team for a year. Then a new coach arrives. Recruits back out and grad transfers and others come in and it’s a new program.
Darius early on looked to be NEXT in Rick’s system and I bet he would’ve thrived. The early days when he arrived looked so promising and it’s crazy how time flies. Good luck to a great guy that played so hard. He stuck with us through a tough time and hope his last year is a big one!
