Does anyone know if this donation per ticket is an annual thing or a one time only deal. NU's emails are not very clear and it's going to make a big difference where our group sits. I would appreciate knowing from anyone who has been told by the ticket office what is the deal.

Because nothing says, "thanks for your support during the last 30 years," like, "submit your required donation for a spot in the queue to purchase your season tickets." And this is on top of ticket price increases. Plus, the donation goes to an unrestricted fund, meaning the athletic department can use it for anything, like paying Adam Cushing's salary.

Guess the $6,000 for a parking pass isn't enough.

The donation is not a seat license but an annual donation. Just pick seats that you know you can afford with the same yearly commitment. Donation levels could actually go up as well.

Actually that 30 year STH (even a 20 year STH ) wouldn't go into a queue. Even without any donation they would be in the group picking first. There's plenty of good no donation seats that cost $375. For the obscenely large donation of $150 they would likely sit in first row of the second level.

Spicy 2nd grade meme.

Don't think there's anything wrong with questioning why I need to make an annual donation just to be able to buy seats in the section my family has sat in for 3 decades.
Because after 3 decades of putting almost zero money into WRA, the University is spending $110 Million to replace those seats?

I'm sure you're right that the no donation seats would likely offer a decent view. Heck, I think every seat in the new arena will likely have decent sight lines. My problem is that the existing season ticket holders are now required to pay an annual "donation" just to sit in the same section they've always sat in (or same relative area of the arena). If this was just a one-time "first year after the renovation donation to reserve your seats" type of thing I would be more ok with it. That and I'd like them to define where that money is going. But to make it an annual donation just seems like a really cheesy, cheap cash grab.

And the project has been completely funded, both from large donations by our primary benefactors (Ryans, Wilsons, etc.) and from existing athletic department funds (a maintenance and renovations budget, per the NUSports release).

If this is all about the renovation, then just make it a one-time donation. Ask the existing season ticket holders to put down a one-time donation to pick their new seats in the new arena. But to ask us to pay the same donation every single year just seems cheap to me. It's not a donation, it's going to an unrestricted fund, and it affects some of the teams' most loyal fans.

Fair enough.

I don't get season tickets. Odds are, you can't get to every game. There are always tickets available either from the athletic department or the secondary market. Why not just buy the games you want? Makes much more economic sense.

I'll probably roll with season tickets for the first year, but yea, after that I may just purchase single-game tickets or take my chances on grabbing a few from scalpers.

Shhhhhhh!! I think that first row is an incredibly underrated seat. And, even with the donation, it's for same price as a ticket last year.
