Blast me if you want but we really havnt faced really good competition since pre conference. I fear that is why we come out with no energy. They know they can always turn it on and pull it out. But against GOOD competition, we may not be able to turn it on. And judging by Cal.s comments it seems he see's it also. He can see the team is flirting with a loss.

Now dont tell me there is no GOOD competition. That is crazy. There are good teams and we better buck up and take the beginning of a game seriously. You can loose a game early as well as late.

Yea people said the same thing when the SEC got three teams out of three in last years Sweet Sixteen.. Why don't we wait about a week before we make asinine observations.

Step off the ledge OP. You are right about 1 thing, the teams in the SEC are not great but here's what you aren't seeing. The SEC has athletes that can compete with any league and when those athletes decide to play hard and play like a team you see a whole different deal. When do they play like a strong team? Yeah, whenever UK comes to town.
Also, please see 2011, 2012 and 2014. The SEC was worse those years but that didn't matter did it? UK still made the final four those three years and should have made it in 2010. Heck, UK had more success in the NCAA tournament under Calipari than in the SEC so how is that possible?
Chill out.

Arkansas is underrated. They were ranked outside of the top 25 preseason, so it has been an uphill battle for respect all year. They have to beef up their non-conference schedule going forward. They went 2-1 in the non-conference against NCAA tourney teams (SMU-win, Dayton-win, Iowa State-loss), but you have to step that up and play some people to earn respect. Casual basketball fans have probably only seen them play once against UK.

^^^ This x 1000. Take the performances of the teams like Texas AM, LSU, UF, Georgia against us this and you don't think that would've been good enough on that given night to have beaten UL? Kansas? UNC or UCLA?

Didn't Kentucky beat the crap out of the GOOD competition they played OOC? I'm not sure I get the OP's point.

And Arkansas is legit...and UK beat the crap out of them.

::::Sigh:::::

SEC was pretty weak in 2012 and 2014 too - didn't seem to stop our teams from getting to the title game.

Yes, a team can LOSE a game early as well as late - but it hasn't happened yet. My momma always said - be thankful for what is good, and don't borrow trouble.

Threads like this seem to be borrowing trouble.

Just sayin'

This song and dance is so old. Put the top 5 SEC teams against the top 5 of any other conference, neutral site, and you will see the SEC win at least 2, probably 3 out of 5.

Like someone else said when the teams want to play there are enough athletes in the SEC to compete pretty well,There is not enough seperation between team #2 and team #14 so on a given day just about anyone can beat anyone else.If you mix in coaches like Jones and Anderson on one end and Pearl,Fox or a few others on the other end then it makes for an even bigger mess.

Iona won the MAAC regular season too but got upset in their conference championship game. Thought they had a nice team when we played them.

Maybe there is more talent at the bottom of the conference than many thought? Glass might be half full...

Underrated? Arkansas has won 1 NCAA game in the last decade.

Par for the course for teams not named UK, Florida and UT.

Arkansas is as good as UNC and UofL over in the mighty ACC or Oklahoma, Iowa St. (which lost to South Carolina by the way), Baylor, and WVU in the "greatest league ever" Big 12. Aside from Nova, they would dominate the Big East and would be playing Zona today for the PAC-12 title if they were in that conference. Same thing with the Big Ten, they would be second to UW, IMHO.

UGA is a good, well coached team that has stayed in the tournament hunt all year despite being riddled with injuries. When healthy, they are just a notch below Arkansas. Their x-factor is Coach Fox, he is soooo underrated.

The rest of the SEC is pretty weak, though.

When you beat Kansas by 34, the Big 12 champ and easily beat UNC, who is going for the ACC championship, your conference doesn't matter. We have seen this team beat everyone thrown in front of them even from other conferences. What the rest of the conference does is on them. If anything, we play down to them out of boredom.

You do understand that when we play these weak teams they always have a black, blue, red, white out , fill the arena the ONLY time all season , kids get out of class and their Super Bowl . Its a shame they can't be like that all season .

Yeah they've been dreadful outside of Fayetteville the last decade, but they are legit this year. Bobby Portis is MUCH improved. Qualls is one of the best athletes in the country. I would love to see a Louisville/Arkansas 4/5 matchup in the second round. My money would be on Arkansas.
