Watched some of the ESPN bowl preview show before our game with Memphis today. Near the end of the show, Greg McElroy of the SEC Network finished his forty bowl picks by predicting Northwestern over LPT in the Music City Bowl, and assigning that game 39 of a possible 40 confidence points.

[If you've ever participated in an office betting pool for bowl games, most are set up where you award each of N bowl games a value between 1 and N. You can use each value one time, and you get that point value if you pick the right team. The most total points wins. So if you're "confident" in your prediction, you assign a high point value.]

Interesting again when the rubber meets the road, how little the SEC thinks of the slapd!cks...

No surprise. You have to earn that respect. Been trending downward. Two bad butt kickings to end the year. NU won 7 in a row. Very solid team.

I have a confidence level of 39/40 that after getting beat, the Mildcats will complain that Northwestern played dirty.

Never mind that psycho-dirtbag #34 is the leader and the face of the Slapd!cks’ Defense.

The issue isn't picking Northwestern which most people are doing. The point spread is only about a TD.

That margin is no more than Troy is favored over North Texas, Utah is favored over WVU, Wisconsin is favored over Miami, Michigan is favored over USCjr, or U of L is favored over Miss State.

And no more than Oregon was favored over Boise State or WKU was favored over Georgia State, both of which the favorites lost.

The issue is how a Bama grad and SEC homer views the slapd!ck football program. It would be analogous to FSU grad Chris Weinke peeing all over U of L against LSU, the favorite in last year's bowl game. If anything close to that happened, I don't recall...

For sure but the accomplishments on paper of both teams this year and the way they finished off their seasons, it looks like an easy pick. Plus, it’s Kentucky.

I think it was FSU over So Miss. Don't recall where the FAU game was ranked, and I don't think I would have put 40 on FSU in their situation...

Northwestern and UK are identical in how they try to play. The biggest difference is Northwestern plays solid defense. With that said their style of play doesn't scream putting 39 points on Northwestern.

The question is can Stoops get this group back? They were a mess the last 2 weeks of the season.

It really is amazing how well that staff recruits when they literally have nothing to back up what they have been selling. The only thing, I guess, is early playing time.
