DePaul goes to the locker room with their largest lead of the game, 41-29. NU has its work cut out for it in the second half.

Pardon and Law are both having off-games, and that first half is what happens when that happens. (Not even going to discuss Taylor... just MIA out there...)

Pardon has 3 points and 2 rebounds. His counterpart is 4-5 for 9 points and 4 rebounds. It's nice that he's getting touches but it wasn't translating to points in the later portions of that half.

Law is 0-4 from 3, and he's a guy you want to be shooting those shots.

DePaul shooting 58%. NU shooting 34.5%. DePaul with 19 rebounds. NU with 12.

These are all fixable things and credit to DePaul for a monster half, but it's not fun being in a 12 point hole.

Great start, unfortunately couldn't sustain it. Law with a bad 3 attempt, Taylor still can't buy a bucket, and Kopp is playing fine but almost looking for Pardon too much. Still a lot of time to claw back.

How are we now the worst team in Chicago, behind both DePaul and Loyola? This is beyond frustrating.

I don't think we're gonna' come back in this one. This ain't a fluke. DePaul is better than us.

I feel like rooting for Northwestern basketball is a lot like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. We get ourselves excited over the possibility that we could be good only to have the ball yanked away. Its been like this pretty much my entire adult life. There is a part of me that just thinks NU will never have sustained success in basketball the way we do in football.

You're ridiculous. Everything is going right for DePaul in this game. It happens.
Sorry... I disagree. DePaul is making things go right for themselves. They are more assertive on the offensive end and their defense has been solid.

For the love of Pete, make a damn shot already. How can everyone on the team shoot this far below their averages?

Don't make excuses for this team. Even the announcers are saying it... they are playing harder than NU. CCC should make this team run suicides in front of the fans at the end of the game, Miracle style.

Sure, there was a lack of effort and DePaul was making more effort plays. Glad to see the Cats are trying to making a game of it now, at last.

But you said NU is the "worst team in Chicago, behind both DePaul and Loyola."

No matter the outcome of this game, I think NU wins 8 times out of 10 against DePaul.

But we only play them once this season. The Cats need to be the better team today. Let's see what they show here and if they can find the heart and desire to win this one. Being 6 - 4 after this game would be pretty bad.

Wow, talk about a run! NU is on a 19-0 run after Taylor and Turner hit back-to-back 3s. What was once a 57-42 deficit is now a 61-57 lead. DePaul hasn't scored in 5:46 and NU has hit 6 of their last 7 shots.

Well... if I had known we'd go on a 19-0 run, I wouldn't have been so worried.

I'm shocked every team does not play much more pressure D on us. We are a MESS against it.

Say it with me: we have a good team. That doesn't mean we don't have to work hard as hell, or that we won't hurt for it if we don't for stretches. But this team does know how to work, is still improving on how it works together, and bad shooting stretches don't last forever.

DePaul isn’t very good and For most of the game DePaul out hustled and out executed NU. Don’t be fooled by NU’s incredible hot streak from the 3 point line. If NU doesn’t learn to play hard the entire game on the defensive end, if they don’t Figure out a way to get ball penetration on offense and if they don’t figure out a way to take better care of the basketball, NU will have a very long Big Ten season. This team desperately needs a point guard and floor general based on what I saw today.

Cardiac Cats indeed! I also thought it was over midway through the second half. What a great win!
