Well, when you shoot 10-33 (30 percent) from the floor and 1-13 from 3 (7.7 - seriously), it's gonna be hard to beat anyone. NU actually did a pretty good job vs. Illinois' pressure, with just five turnovers. But Illinois has the pace where they want it and -- well, the ball just isn't going in the basket.

Vic was jobbed on the call that got him DQ’ed.

But a well executed student section “Left Right SIT DOWN” is one of life’s great pleasures.

Would love us to pull off this improbable coneback, but just too much home cooking by the refs in this one.

That 5th foul on Law, I can't even...

Illinois should probably repaint their three point stripe. Orange or navy blue seem like good options. Kopp was on the line.

This isn’t serious is it?

Uh, check the free throw season-long shooting stats for Illinois and then check tonight's game. Then get back to me on the free throe shooting disparity tonight. We breathed on them, it was a foul. Watch the third foul on Pardon and the 5th on Law,. both at critical junctures in the game; just two of many examples. Pardon gets all ball and gets called for a foul on the first, Player clearly travels, then Pardon and Law both block the players shot with no body part being contacted by either, foul on Law for his 5th.

Uh, we shoot 3 after 3. First rule of basketball is don’t foul the 3 point shooter. We rarely drive then people wonder why we don’t get more calls. Of course, you and others can point out some horrendous calls. There were some in this game, like there are in every game. I personally thought there have been much worse officiating in NU games that tonight.

I respect your unwavering support to NU Mike, but we lost this game because of us (coaches/players) and this comes from someone Bob accuses of being in the PKK.

Agree to disagree I guess. I thought we played very well tonight, well enough to win. Illinois hand checked us as often as we did them, but we got called for every single hand check. Read the other thread about Illinois's FTs in other recent games vs. tonight. They didn't suddenly learn how to draw so many fouls...

Yet another win in the “they don’t quit” column!

I did read it and I agree there were a couple of critical calls against NU that were not fouls. I just disagree that they were deciding factors. The game didn’t feel as close as the final margin to me. It felt to me like the Fighting Undies woke up when we got close (cringe) and re-established themselves. We are in last for a reason and that reason isn’t the ref’s. NU is just a very flawed team and I hope we get some positives from the youngsters in these last few games.

Why can’t there be more then one reason for the season?

Can you honestly say the reffing in the b1g has had no impact on NU?

Is it possible that NU is a flawed team and also gets a disproportionate amount of bad calls by the refs?

Can there possibly also be a third thing impacting the season? Maybe a fourth?
