Well, as bad as it looked at times, Scottie Lindsey got hot late and NU trails by just 7, 36-29, at the half.

After Maryland hit 7 of its first 10 3-point shots, they finally cooled off, missing their last 4. NU, meanwhile, closed the half by scoring 13 of the last 17 points. Lindsey scored 13 points in the last 6:59.

Lindsey has 15 and Gavin Skelly has 5 to pace the Cats. Kevin Huerter, who was red-hot early with 9 points in the first four minutes, leads Maryland with 16.

Sweet, first two possessions, two turnovers. Come on.

Edit: and now 3 fouls less than 2 minutes in.

This was gonna be the game that showed NU had finally found its game, but instead they're playing their worst game of the season.

Or was the IU game worse?

Yikes. Maryland starts the second half on a 7-0 run. Three turnovers and three fouls for NU in the first 2:33.

McIntosh with zero points and zero assists so far. Not a winning formula.

Feels like the Ohio State game. NU played close throughout, but Maryland is just making more plays. The number of 50-50 balls that have gone their way, plus easy putbacks around the rim, are killing the Cats.

Only hope is that Maryland's lack of depth will lead their players to be tired late after dealing with NU's man-to-man.

I guess Maryland must be incapable of fouling, according to the refs. Seems very one-sided.

Insult to injury, some shafting by the refs here late. They missed a foul on Falzon and they've since refused to call any fouls on Maryland and everything on NU.

Abusing BMac on defense. Calling ISOs and letting any/all of their players beat him off the dribble. Ugh.

The color guy just said that Chris Collins' teams "are not going to quit, no matter the score" ... and I'm not sure that's been true this season.

This team is what it is. Making the tourney last year was a great achievement by this group. They are playing more to their ability this year and are really missing Lumpkin and Taphorn because NOBODY has replaced their production.
