What a first half! Both teams are playing well, with NU shooting 52 percent and Purdue 46. Lindsey (8 points) carried the offense early, while BMac (12) came on to carry them late. This is the second straight game that Ash, and not Brown, was the first point guard off the bench.

Matthias has 12 points to lead Purdue, while Swanigan has 9 and a game-high 8 rebounds. They outscored NU 7-2 from the free throw line.

NU just honored about three dozen players from the 1970s through the 2000s, all lined up with black Under Armour warmups. The biggest roars were for Eschmeyer, Coble and Sobolewski. It was great to see Vukusic in the house.

They play better when I'm not watching, so I'll shut off the TV now.

Purdue seems to be getting a lot of calls and non-calls their way. I know it's a fan thing to say, but wow.

They need to keep going to Pardon down low. Making Swanigan play only O and rebound is not good. I like putting some pressure on him and it has also opened some easy assists.

Boy Swanigan is good. Purdue sure got their money's worth.

There's that stretch that great teams have. Purdue has crushed us defensively this half and we're not doing anything to rotate when we double team Swanigan. It's basketball so this is not insurmountable, but it's a different game than it was the first 25 minutes.

Law is 2 for 11 for 4 points. NU needs No. 4 to heat up down the stretch.

I've been rough on Mac from time to time, but he is playing at another level today..

One hell of a game, but we just aren't at their level and don't match up well. The loss doesn't bother me at all. We hung with them.

0 for 10 from three-point land ain't gonna' get it done. Played our hearts out, but still don't quite have the talent that a team like Purdue does. Edwards and Swanigan are just outstanding. But fun game to watch.

Mac not having one of his better games, even thought he probably has the most NU points.

Aside from BMac starting to drive too late in the shot clock a few times (like right before the half), it was BMac who kept the 'Cats in the game, along w/ the 2 interior guys, Pardon and Lumpkin (a combined 10 of 11 and 24 pts).

What a game for both wings to have a horrible shooting game (esp. Law) - 5 of 24.

If Law or Lindsey had just hit a couple more shots, would've been a diff. game.

Good news is so far the #1s are winning their conference tournaments. No bid stealers so far.

I believe Purdue was 0-9 from a the arc in the second halves themselves. Both teams played tough D. Exceptional talent inside will asset itself.

Monmouth in trouble late. Not sure if they could land an at large bid, but they would certainly be under consideration if Siena pulls off the upset.

CBS crew postgame was dismissive on Monmouth's chances. Just not enough good games on their resume and losing in their conference semis (not even the finals) spells doom for them, according to the discussion.

Well, the only potential bid thief out there of the four that finished is Illinois State, and I think they're more likely to be ousted by a bid thief than being one themselves. So far, so good.

Yeah I heard that too, but it's important to remember that the committee does look at every conference champ that loses in their respective conference tournament. Winning a regular season title does count for something. Worth keeping in mind, at least.

Belmont is another one, but unlikely they get a bid too. The Bruins might have done some damage in the early rounds.

To honest, I'm more concerned about having to potentially play Rutgers on Thursday...may have to root for Ohio State for the first time in my life.

You're right Mac scoring keep NU in the game, just wish he didn't try to win the game b himself.

I'd much rather play Rutgers than Ohio State. Rutgers plays hard, but the talent gap between the two teams is tremendous.

I was thinking more from a potential "bad loss" perspective. Rutgers could beat up the RPI pretty good with a win. Ohio State can't harm NU at all on that front.

I think if Grant Hill had a vote for an all-grit/all-savvy team, BMac just made his first team. You could tell he was really impressed.

Who else was capable though?

Pardon was involved and Sanjay played his *** off on both ends of the court.

BMac was amazing this afternoon, hands down.
You have got me there. Law and/or Lindsey will need to score in double digits for NU to continue the season.
