Secret BB scrimmage vs Ohio st

Some insiders said both team looked strong and it was a brutal contest. If that’s the fact, then the scrimmage can be invaluable for a strong early season start.

The Louisville basketball team lost its secret scrimmage against Ohio State on Sunday by a final score of 80-69.
Here’s what I know about what went down:
*The Cards had no answer for versatile OSU big man Kaleb Wesson, who finished with 20 points and five rebounds.
*It was not the best afternoon for the Cardinal guards.
*OSU freshman point guard DJ Carton sprained an ankle early in the scrimmage and did not return.
*The teams played a short segment after the scrimmage where the Cards got the better of OSU, but make no mistake, the afternoon belonged to the Buckeyes.
If this freaks you out, calm down. Every coach handles these things differently. Virginia lost its secret scrimmage last year to a Villanova team that wound up being — relative to its own standards — fairly average. Wesson is a unique matchup for everyone, and it’s hard to see the Cards not having more success defending him with a healthy Malik Williams

These scrimmages are not very well kept secret. We were missing rotation players. Mack got a chance to see players in a high caliber setting and give experience to role players. Not freaked, but geeked. I’m old. Hope I used that word properly.
I just think people will need to exercise a bit of patience and caution with this team. Alot of new parts need to be worked in. The team we see in Nov and Dec will be a bit under whelming. I truly believe once January rolls around we will start too see what the BB minds see a really good team.
A little bit of solace to those that might be worried about the loss . #1 Mich St also lost their secret scrimmage game this past weekend also to Gonzaga.
NCAA rules is my guess. You’re only allowed so many exhibition games and school are not allowed to announce scrimmages or they’ll be counted as exhibition games. My guess.
When my son played D2 baseball a few years ago, they could intrasquad all day but if they scrimmaged other teams, it counted against the number of games they could schedule in the spring. Most coaches rather play games that counted. I guess maybe the rules have changed.

Actually it's been going on for years the local media had never made a big deal of it because Rick never did it nor has UK. First time it's been done around here so now you are hearing about it. But it has been happening for years. Mack explained he feels he rather do this than play a meaningless exhibition game against an out manned opponent . You get nothing out of it. Makes complete sense for a coach to do this. Only negative you get the bad or positive media over reaction from a game that is more less an experiment against like competition
That’s what I was thinking Red it has a legal scrimmage and they probably kept it quiet to keep the media away.
I would say officials were present. Trip from Columbus for a pick up game.
In other news, Josh Langford is out with foot injury. Cards could be moving up in the polls even as early as November.
I was able to gather a few bits of info about these type scrimmages from a reputable former U of L player .whom stated the flow of the game is not really the same as a regular game alot of coaching moments. He did say from what he knows too expect big things from Enoch.
This makes as much sense as vacating wins and stats for games that happened. I guess what I"m saying is, totally makes sense that this is an NCAA rule.
We got some answers about this scrimmage and it wasn't good news for the most part.

The only thing that bothers me about this is that mindset thingy.
Seems like the sooner you can nip this in the bud, the better. And this would be pretty soon. Lots of guys on this team with higher aspirations. Let's hope they all understand why they're wearing the Red and Black.

I agree even though we are considered a blue blood program I always thought we played with a blue collar attitude. I think CCM is has a blue collar mentality.
It was officiated. After all, officials need practice on getting into position then blowing the call because they don't have the intestinal fortitude to shut cry baby K up. What they really need is a new set.
