I agree that the ship has sailed on Jones. Clark is an impressive specimen. He is raw but he has an absolute cannon.Nope.
Danny Clark is visiting again this weekend. Be on commitment alert.
Jarren Williams and Danny Clark should have UK fans attention.
Many of these players have strong arms, we need a QB that has got it between the ears. aka Mike Hartline.I agree that the ship has sailed on Jones. Clark is an impressive specimen. He is raw but he has an absolute cannon.
Why would you say that? The kid had serious interest in us, but got an offer from the best program around. It sucks for us, but it's good for the kid. Wish him good luck and move on. Statements like you wrote is what was giving BBN a bad rep in social media.Nobody here should care about Mac Jones or whatever happens to him.
Hurts is a very special player. Reminds me of VooDoo on FNL... :joy:Why star QBs even commit to BAMA is beyond me? They have a new Starter just about every year and give you little time to develop. It's either come in and contribute right away or they find somebody else who will. There is no time to waste. Now Jalen Hurts is an interesting prospect being a true freshman but it will be interesting to see how long he remains a starter. Saben has no problem having a short leash, that he doesn't mind pulling on if you're not producing good results. And it snot like they are sending QBs into the league and an alarming rate.
Jones no longer had interest in UK and committed to Bama. Wish him the best but I sure wouldn't recruit him further even if he decommitted.
Because they all have the confidence that they can "be the man" as opposed to just looking for the easiest path to playing time. 4 and 5 star players are the norm at Bama. As they say, if you want to be the best you have to beat the best. Why star QBs even commit to BAMA is beyond me? They have a new Starter just about every year and give you little time to develop. I agree. But the QB will always play second fiddle behind their running game. You can be the man all you want but you're gonna have to literally change the philosophy of Bama coaching staff specifically Saben. That's why Hurts is in there now. His ability to run the ball has basically put him in the driver seat.Because they all have the confidence that they can "be the man" as opposed to just looking for the easiest path to playing time. 4 and 5 star players are the norm at Bama. I've stated before that one of the reasons I think so many highly ranked recruits fail at UK is because they came to UK thinking that they won't have to work as hard to play...and they don't. Give me a kid with a chip on their shoulder and the desire to work their *** off vs a kid with worlds of potential but not the fortitude to reach that potential.

I agree with you about .000001% of the time, but this is one of those rare times that I completely agree with you. I think this has been the downfall of much of the 2014 class.Because they all have the confidence that they can "be the man" as opposed to just looking for the easiest path to playing time. 4 and 5 star players are the norm at Bama. UM liked him as a SO, not so much as a SR since he recruited over him. But a good player for us.Danny Clark is the pick. We will be fine. He has a lot of talent and if the Urban Legend likes him that is good enough for me. Good looking QB. Great job Stoops, Hinshaw and Big dog Marrow if he signs.
If you are worried about competition then you really don't have that much confidence in your ability. If you think you have NFL ability then why are you worried about who else they bring in?They're about like notre dame. Sign elite QBs but none of them ever develop to really wow you, and none pan out in the Pros.
If I'm a top QB I'm looking for playing time, not necessarily right away but by the time i'm a rs frosh i want to be in the hunt and definitely leader in the club house the following year.
I agree with this. My daughter will be a UK athlete next year and met Mac on a visit, became friends and stayed in touch a lot back then, not so much now. I know he was very serious about UK and liked them a lot.Why would you say that? The kid had serious interest in us, but got an offer from the best program around. If you're worried about competition, it is doubtful you're going to be on a good team. Competition makes you better.
Yeah, i'm a bit perplexed as to why Bama is able to haul in 4-5 elite QBs. I mean get that they are Bama, but after two elite QBs sign each year, why in the heck would the third guy sign?

If you go to Bama, Notre Dame, among other top tier places, by the time you redshirt and maybe hold the clipboard for a year you have 3-4 more top guys on the roster behind you and maybe in front of you.
That's one thing that has always frustrated me with UK and recruiting. How in the world have we not been able to land one top gunslinger and legit pro caliber QB?
It's the easiest pitch ever. "sign with us and you will play, you will be a hero, you will get pro consideration if we just go .500"
I mean a top 4* - 5* kid can walk on campus next summer and start, and I can't remember a time when that wasn't the case. Our QB situation has never been so strong that the incumbent wasn't in doubt and couldn't be beat out by legit talent.
Well it could be that your thought process is flawed. Maybe like with UK basketball great players want to play with other great players and there is also that they will contend for the NC every year. Sometimes these matters overload playing time.
Apples to oranges.
The top 10 basketball players can all sign with UK. They will all play. See platoon. In fact they don't even have to play, they can sit out. See Kanter.
Basketball is a different sport. It does not require 3 years of collegiate tape. A kid can sign with UK, get a try out in front of 90 nba front office people and scouts and decide to sit the year. He will get drafted.
A lot of lottery picks are decided in high school/aau circuits before they even sign with a school. Basketball talent projects differently than football talent, and most franchises have these kids on their radar long before they set foot on a campus.
Football players need college to develop and show what they can do. NFL drafts not only on potential but production. What has the kid done? Has he shown over a period of time that he can make pro throws, catches, tackles, blocks, etc...
3 top qbs going to the same place, one will play the others will sit barring disaster or injury.
Now, if your goal is not pros or even a significant amount of college pt because you understand your abilities and realize that you are going into another profession, sure go to bama or one of the big boys and live it up, ride the gravy train.
Wasn't sure seems it will work itself out. I don't see Jones ever taking a snap at Bama unless its his sr season there of mega injuries from that position.
I agree with you but in fairness we just now got an oc and qb coach that i feel like will stay long enough to develop our qbs correctlyI've seen a cannon for an arm for several years at UK. Not overly impressed and would rather see an accurate arm, good wheels and smart.
Absolutely agree on Jones.
Nobody here should care about Mac Jones or whatever happens to him. Even if he moved on from Bama, he made it clear he wanted to be somewhere else and we moved on
I would think the ship here is sailing and he will have other options
Same as Wills.... we move on at some point. I'm coming to the opinion we will avenge any loss with another guy and a good one. We may not always get our first option but we are getting good options but we need defensive line
The problem right now is development once they are here and putting it all together
Why should we move on from Wills. I don't believe he has committed to anyone else, including Alabama. Let's not move on until he is committed. Were not in any position to tell a player to commit,or were moving on. Alabama or Ohio State can do that, but UK can't. Hopefully, some day we can, but not now.
OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
