Well, its not like PSU can lay claim to be the "original owner".
Especially since the PSU cheerleaders that came up with it clearly admitted that they were trying to replicate something that SoCal and tOSU were doing

BS. I was friends with many of the cheerleaders when this started to become popular. They were trying to come up with something that would get the crowd involved like some schools were able to accomplish that they saw while watching big games on TV.

The "We Are" chant is different from most other schools cheers in that it is said/shouted with an attitude and not as a bouncy cheer. There is no "clap clap" between the "We ARE" "PENN STATE". Generally, each half is shouted with a bit of an angry twinge.

Everyone is who they are. It’s not like such a proclamation had to be invented.

Who cares … honestly. If it was that important while we weren’t the first. Someone could have patented it but oops didn’t, so fair game to anyone else.

The cheerleaders that were referenced in the Town & Gown article several years ago specifically mentioned the Oh-Hi-O cheer that tOSU does as well as something that SoCal was doing at the time as inspirations and something they wanted to replicate.

Here’s a clip from the original Prato piece in Town & Gown.

Saw this while taking a walk today. Seriously?
No worries. NC State fans don't do our cheer. Instead, they do like a fingers thing to signify wolf ears or something. It's been awhile but I think they also shake their keys to make noise. I find their antics to be... ghey, oh so similar to Pitt in many ways.

They are Better than the unc fans that sip their wine (pinky out) and really only care about football until basketball season starts.

Got it all wrong. We prefer pink wine with our pinky out, waiting for bball season to start.

The whole “shaking keys” thing is about as stupid as it gets.🙄

Penn State used to do it all the time at basketball games in the late 80s to early 90s. But I guess it was cool back then.

LOL, no it was never "cool". I was gone by that point but I don't remember us doing it at Rec Hall in the early 80's, I guess it could have been but it would have still been dumb.

It isn’t as effective with keyless fobs now.

Pretty sure VT fans do it the most in ACC. Takes away from the awesome intro with Enter Sandman.
Could be. I've never been to a VT game. Was hoping to see a home and home with PSU before I move west. 🤷‍♂️
I know Purdue did it last year at our game.
