To my knowledge was the only player who enrolled at UK but instead went to the pros out of high school. Know of any others?

Kemp is probably the one recruit I'm most bummed that never suited up for the Cats. I never saw a 6'10" guy move like that before or since. Smooth, fast and aggressive. He certainly wasn't a perfect player but man, that guy just oozed talent.
Yeah, I think prime Kemp may have been the fastest 6’10” man to ever live. I saw him play live, an it was breathtaking how quickly he covered the court when he turned on the jets.
Could’ve made one helluva track star if he chosen a different path.
Didn't Darryl Dawkins or Pooh Willoughby commit to Kentucky but never signed and then went pro?
Dirk was gonna be a Cat. I am a Dallas Mavs fan as well, it worked out fantastic for them that he came out, but damn it would have been great to have had him here for a year. I watched Dirk hang 33/14 against the US national select team that March. Our 1998-99 team was a good squad, made the Elite 8 and lost to #1 Michigan State by 6 or 7. I think of we had Dirk we likely win the title that year
Bill poodles Willoughby signed a letter of intent and did commit to Kentucky but changed his mind and turned pro. Dawkins never committed. Speculation was that Dawkins would go to Kentucky if he had not have turned pro.
Interestingly, UK signed his buddy Sean Woods from Cathedral High in Indianapolis to get Shawn Kemp. It was a package deal.
Yeah, hitting a woman across the face with a metal folding chair was frowned on back in those days.

I thought the thread would be breaking news that Kemp got a vasectomy.
He enrolled at UK, got bounced over the gold chain deal (which I've heard lots of conflicting stories about), and then enrolled at a JuCo (where he didn't play).
Considering he was a full year removed from high school and enrolled at two different colleges, I never thought Kemp was truly a straight out of high school guy, even though it's been said a million times.

How many of y'all remember Bob Gibbons and his publication All Start Sports ??? We're talkin' 1975 here, but I vividly remember Bob Gibbons reporting that Dawkins (aka "Chocolate Thunder") was going to play at Kentucky.
Willoughby for sure did. Don’t recall “Chocolate Thunder” doing so but man that dude destroyed rims.
