I've been married to the great love of my life for over 50 years. Some might assume its been all wine and roses. It has not. A good marriage is not easy. It takes a lot of hard work, understanding, and sacrifice by both parties. But.....when it works, there is nothing better on this earth. I wish Sean and his bride to be many loving years together in good health and happiness.

He drinks White Claws. I saw it with my own eyes at Blue White. I'm happy for both of these women.
50% of marriages are a failure, and the other 50% end in divorce.
Yeah, with 50% ending in divorce I knew either my wife or I was going to get divorced. 
May I offer a small sentiment from one of my essays ... from my book ----

Wonderful words that could be used many more times than they are.
That is the point of the wedding ceremony, isn’t it? But they are not said or heard by anyone. Each party to the ceremony will pledge their troth, promise to be happy when times are good, and take care of one another should health or any loss occur. The words are practiced, maybe written on paper or improvised and impromptu for a meaningful moment of time.
But no one will offer – I Choose Us!
OK – sometimes this ideology of a relationship and the status of being together does not last for the rest of our lives. People change, business or society’s pressures allow confidence in ourselves to evaporate, or even demand we consider major differences. Therefore, sometimes we do grow apart because we view our position on an issue independently, or our personality changes with time, to be more important than the initial promise we made to one another.
However, let’s not forget the initial feelings, the emotion we had for someone who we liked and liked us. That is a most important development of our personality and how we respect someone else. Life for many may not be simple, and it does take hard work to complete a “life”, but a simple statement can make a difference. Wonderful words to be used ………….. Always.

I've been married for just over 44 years. They have been 32 of the happiest years of my life . . .
I still love my Penn state girl, go figure. (1988, 100 years or so)
I remember when Ben Affleck used his Oscar acceptance speech to thank his wife, Jennifer Garner, and to say how hard marriage is. They were divorced not long after.
You only get married two or three times in your life so make sure every one counts...
I can’t imagine ever choosing to do it again. I love my wife, will never get divorced (by my choosing at least), but if it did happen I’m done.

I was married for 18 years before calling it quits. I would say 12 of those years were as close as one can get to fantasyland, the last six would have made waterboarding feel like child’s play.
But it’s not all negative. My GF of 14 years is the cat’s meow, perfect in every way. We have no anniversary date as our work relationship seamlessly morphed into a romantic relationship.
