Why does she think anyone cares enough about tennis to give death threats on social media over her loss? Wouldn't people need to care both about tennis and her to do that? I mean if she wishes social media didn't exist she could always delete her accounts and boom....it is gone.

Congrats to her. She says she is only on it for marketing. She just did a great job of garnering sympathy (ie marketing) for doing what she says she hates. HYPOCRITE!!!

I believe a lot of the female tennis athletes, and maybe even female athletes period will follow in the Naomi Osaka model of WOE IS ME, but pay me model of marketing.

She didn't say she did just she expects to get "nine million death threats". If they aren't tennis fans they don't care, if they aren't her fans they are probably glad she lost and if they are her fans they are more than likely sympathetic to her losing. I mean it is a little hypocritical to talk about people saying mean things to her and then stereotype them by saying she didn't want to pay attention to comments from people posting about her from their parents' basement, but it "does get to your head sometimes." 😂

People love to lie about getting death threats in order to play the victim.

The public does not care about tennis nor does anyone know who this is nor would they feel compelled to hurt someone over sports. If Fauci and politicians have not been hurt, I think random female tennis player is safe.

I was watching her lose and normally I am a huge “root for the American“ kind of guy. But I never really cared because the girl (only 18) that won was much more compelling. Besides, Rogers is kinda a fat pig.

Tennis will likely have a significant decline once Venus/Serena/Federer/Djokavic/Nadal era ends - that was some of the best tennis ever and I don’t see anyone coming up that’s popular like you had before them with the likes of Graf/Agassi/Sampras/etc
