Replacements or surgeries? Regardless I met him back in the day, dude just had that ‘look’.

According to wiki it was replacements. He had additional surgeries.

I saw an interview with him where he was clearly in pain all the time.

He said if it got too bad he would just end it all. He was quite calm about that.

Would have bet he was gone long ago. Hope he had some quality of life despite the beaten up body.

Most spot-on post ever, 100%. I honestly can’t tell you which of two was more bat-**** crazy. Edit: Probably Al.

Good book about him - They Call Me Dirty. He also had a mean rivalry with Merlin Olsen of the Rams.
In the article, it says Olsen got back at him - in his TV show, there is a scene showing a headstone, and on the headstone it had Dobler's name on it.
