Debating whether I’m rooting for Slater and JJ to win tonight or Las Vegas. If Chargers win, that means my Bengals play the Pats and that scares the heck out of me.

Cincy playing at home with a rested Burrow is a lock. No worries.

Are the Bengals going to win a Super Bowl?

No. Go NFL Cats!

(Also cheering for the Raiders TEs to play well, coached by NU’s Austin King).

Makes a big difference when he has the OL back and Kamara is playing......

Not only that, but during that stretch the Saints D wasn't playing like they had the past month (if they did, would have won at least 2 of those games) and the Saints were still trying to find a kicker.

That awful call during the Titans game which negated an INT in the EZ basically cost the Saints a PO spot (the Saints seem cursed by awful calls by refs), but leave it to the Rams to deny us all the chance of Siemian starting in the POs.

It'll be interesting to see what the Saints decide to do at the QB spot and whether Trevor remains with the Saints or goes elsewhere (think the Steelers should pick him up).

Seems like Hill suffered another Lisfranc injury and likely will be out for most, if not all of next season - so a QB battle btwn Trevor and Jameis is a possibility (which would be something considering where they were drafted).

Never got the sense that Payton was entirely sold on Winston, so if Hill hadn't gotten hurt, may have moved on from Jameis.

With Hill hurt, that's $10 million of cap space not being of use to the O; not sure how much of the dead cap $ to players no longer playing for the Saints like Brees and Sanders disappears, but that played a big role in the Saints lacking weapons with Thomas out for the entire season and Kamara missing basically a quarter of the season.

Even if Thomas is healthy and back playing for the Saints, they still need to draft a #2 receiver and upgrade the TE position, as well as finding another O-lineman or 2 (their LT is getting up there and has been starting to break down too often and their RG, Ruiz, a 1st rounder, has been a major disappointment; may play better if moved to his natural position of center).

Regardless, Siemian should be up for a significant pay raise (1,154 yds with 11 TDs and 3 INTs playing behind an O-line for much of that time missing 3 starters and basically having no weapons).

While deserving, don't think he'll see Case Keenum type $ ($6 mil this season), but should be able to double/triple his annual salary which would still be a bargain.

Jackson is also up for a new contract, but fear his injury history will hurt him.

Really? How long have you been following the Bengals? I love Burrow, but they’re still the Bengals.

I actually hate the Bengals, grew up as a Browns fan. But they are on a serious roll now with Burrow/Chase. Round 1 goes to them.

I was explaining this to my son this morning who is very excited about the Bengals' draw in this AFC playoff. I had to explain that I was his age the last time the Bengals won a play-off game. I told him about Carson Palmer's knee and the self-destruction in 2015. The upset losses to the Chargers and Bills. The Bengals simply find ways to lose playoff games.

But... he's young and doesn't care about past curses. Our best hope is that the young Bengal players feel exactly the same.

Just checked the playoff schedule- Raiders are very beatable. Keep Burrow and Chase healthy and you should be alright.

Worse case scenario: you have to explain the same thing to your grandkids again in 30 years. But you’re used to it by now so no big whoop.

The only playoff games the Cowboys have won since the '90s have been a few wildcard games. In all the Tony Romo years, they never won more than a wildcard game. The Bears have advanced further than the Cowboys in the playoffs in that time.

It makes me wonder why so many people still hate the Cowboys so thoroughly when they haven't done anything in a very long time.

Man..... I'd love to win a wildcard game. I'm not kidding when I say next Saturday is my SuperBowl.

The Browns were my first favorite team. Back in the Jim Ryan and LeRoy Kelly days. Then the Bengals arrived. And when they drafted Greg Cook I had to be a Bengals fan. I practically grew up in Greg Cook's house as a kid. His little brother and I were best buds. To this day, Mike Brown claims Greg was the most talented QB he ever saw play. What a shame he had such a short career. The Bengals had him playing behind a sieve of an OL. Not uncommon among expansion franchises.

After working for both Clubs for many years I now have 2 favorite teams. Something that is made a whole lot easier with 4 Cats on the Browns' roster.

Hope you're right about their matchup with the Raiders.

My 3 sons are all in their 30s - grew up in Cincy - and have the same sense of excitement as your's.

I'm a cynical old man now. I should really try not to contaminate the youth.

Why not us? is the rallying cry in Cincinnati these days, so I'm on board with it. Why not us?

The arrogance! The entitlement! (though not you, of course) 😉

Notre Dame hasn't won a natty in over 30 years, and yet their fans still think they're contenders every season. One of my best childhood friends was a huge Cowboys and Irish fan, so I see the parallels in their fan bases.

Why was he your friend? Was he doubly arrogant and entitled?

I think we likely all have a few good friends whose sports fandoms we just find absolutely intolerable. Cowboys-Lakers-Yankees fans, obnoxious fickle and knowledgeless fans, Gophers fans who are convinced they're going to the Rose Bowl every year despite all evidence to the contrary...

Because I'm arrogant and entitled also!

Seriously, I was being (at least somewhat) tongue in cheek with my comments. Not all Notre Dame fans are entitled (only most of them).

My friend was born in Chicago and came from a family of Midwestern Catholics. I get the Notre Dame allegiance but was always perplexed by the Dallas Cowboys obsession. Still, I took a trip to Chicago with them as a kid (Wrigley game, etc.), so they claim they're the reason I Iater went to Northwestern, which may be right. He went on to attend Notre Dame, and I had fun visiting for several Irish football games, especially the one in September 1995 that ended with a final score of 17-15.

"The rookie from Notre Dame" dropped a TD in the NFC Championship game. The Rams subsequently missed a FG attempt on 4th down.

Benedict.
