I wanted Nick Saban as our football coach. There was zero chance 3 out of the 4 would come here. The one that would have likely come was run out of basketball.
Agree.

We lost 2 of Martin's guys to graduation. 7 transferred soon after Martin was fired. Paris had a short window to fill those slots (70% of the team). What was left to pick from were not elite (G.G fell into our laps). I can assure I will be the first in line critical of Paris, if warranted, AFTER he has had a fair chance. One season, his first, with mostly "leftovers", does not equate to a "fair chance". How Paris won 4 SEC conference games with the hand he was dealt is not something I expected. I expected much worse. If people are honest they would agree with that. If we get to the point where a change has to be made, I can assure too that MY choice will not be hired. He never is. Hopefully, it won't come to that. Besides, Dawn had an even worse first year here. I believe she has turned out OK.

100% agree. If we don't see improvement next year, I will start to grumble. He won 4 games and there were about 4 more that we could have won, including Alabama. The Tennessee games were very, very ugly but we were competitive in almost all of our games (outside Tenn) down the stretch. I see he's done some house cleaning today with some players that didn't see much time.

I hope he works out. If not............. Of course, it seems like we Carolina fans are always waiting at the alter for the bride.

The pop up ads on this site are off the charts. I post from my phone and it makes doing so almost impossible.

Just win. I can't stand the built-in excuses. Beamer came in Year 1 and wasn't given a snowball's chance, but he took to us 7 wins with a bowl win. And managed to do it without a QB.

Now that we're losing some players to the portal, if we perform poorly again next year, fans will say "well, what do you expect? we had unexpected losses to the portal. give it time." It's always gonna be something.

I agree with you about "excuses". But, you and I both know that if Beamer came into year one having lost nearly 70% of his scholarship players, that would have been about 60 of his 85 scholarship players, making his first season here disastrous.

It looks to me that Paris is ushering some non-performers out, which is what he should be doing.....his job. Now, I just came back from the hospital from surgery after having a hernia repaired. So, I may not be thinking this latter statement all the way through. But, that is what I think he is doing there.

I understand the daunting task that faced Paris this past year. I suppose I just have some PTSD from people making excuses for Frank year after year after year, always dangling the carrot of "next year" out there.

Frank made mileage out of that Final Four run. Unfortunately, he did not parlay it into stellar recruiting hauls, which sorely disappointed me.

What pisses me off is that I think Tanner had, in my view, some good options after striking out on Tom Herman. Kirby Smart and Sean Miller. But instead, he "settled". Paris made end up working out. Time will tell. The Tanner way is no way to run coaching searches.

Coach Beard going to Ole Miss is just another indictment on our men’s program. It’s like nobody cares at all about success. We need to hire with the same ethical standards as our peers.

I'm ok with that. The experts on here wanted Gregg Marshall, Scott Drew, Bobby Knight, Chris Beard. All were avaialable. Instead our administration gave us Dave Odom, Darrin Horn, Frank Martin and Lamont Paris. The "experts" do seem to be better at this than our ADs and consulting firms we hire.
We only hire nice guys. For every Beamer there’s hundreds of slim balls who win. Tanner can’t hire a successful Mr nice guy for every sport.

100%. We paid 20 million to go from NCAA tourny level to one of the worst teams in the country. Brilliant!
Uh, no. I supported Frank but he just couldn't get it done. He lucked up with Sin.

Yes, Frank lucked out big time with both Thornwell and Dozier. Both were local guys and one was a Gamecock legacy. They both wanted to play at USC, regardless of who was coach. Frank never came close to bringing in any other recruits close to that caliber. They just fell in our lap.
