He's not a top player on a good team now, but he's a very valuable guy to have. Busts his butt, plays smart and within himself, and just is solid in pretty much every aspect. Saw a little outside game tonight too. If he can develop a consistent mid-range game, he could earn a starter's spot by his senior year. Even if he doesn't though, he's a great glue guy that can give you good minutes at the four, and can also be a small five if really needed. He's like that utility guy off the bench on a good MLB team that isn't the name guy, but just does a lot of things well enough to bring a ton of value and is a fan favorite. A really nice player to have.
Yes on all counts to the above. Gavin has shown steady improvement this year I think. The flashes of an outside game will be quite helpful. He'll never be Falzon or Tap from outside, but if he can be a threat they can't leave wide open that would be nice. And while he still needs to get better on D (see all the fouls tonight), he's a step better than some of the other options down there (most not named Sanjay). Was Skelly taking some of Sanjay's minutes tonight, or am I incorrect?
I'm wondering what has happened to Taphorn. I know the standard line about not playing defense that I'll get from somebody watching the games on BTN in Walla Walla, Washington, but I'm looking for someone close to the situation who has a good idea of what is going on. I've been told by friends, who know Brian James and are in the fast break club, that he also has a bad foot. I suppose I could have joined the fast break club and found out but that's next year. Where is Haywood, when he need him.I'm guessing Sanjay's minutes will keep going down. He is such a liability on offense, and we are recruiting better players that can do what he can do and also score. Heck, depending on the freshman next year and with Law back, he may struggle to get any minutes. His offensive skills have not improved at all, compared to guys like Skelly, who actually has a nice shot now.
If he's transferring, is he actually going to leave school? We needed bodies last night and Tap didn't play at all. I think it must be an injury. Either that or the doghouse or he's told coaches that he's transferring, neither of which seem likely.
