Was he a coach at some point? Maybe I'm thinking of another Skip?

I'd like to think that these types of shows are dead.... but ESPN just gave Stephan A Smith a monster contract.

We will see if Skip can find another station to continue his career. But I think he honestly killed it years ago leaving ESPN for the money. Stephan A Smith has thrived but think that is due to ESPN not his skill level.

I remember when Eagles receiver Riley Cooper was filmed using the N word after a black cop hassled him and his friends getting into a country concert, Bayless was doing his best to sound like Cooper had committed the world's worst sin. He went on and on about how his mom taught him when he was a kid that she better never catch him saying that word, blah blah blah. Bayless, who once insinuated that Troy Aikman wasn't capable of leading the Cowboys because he's gay, was getting all sanctimonious about this issue. He's hated by many in the sports world.

The dude is 72 years old. I'd hang it up and go live the good life. He's made 10's of millions of dollars talking sports and anything else he wants to...kudos to him.

Yawn....

Why do people even watch sports shows anymore? Seriously - educate me on it. I haven't even watched Sportscenter in well over 10 years. I'm not even sure they have it anymore.

I think they'd be more watchable if they strayed a little from the Lakers, Cowboys and Yankees.

Why, though?
There are eight teams (minimum) in the NBA better than the Lakers. But based on coverage you'd think the Lakers are the mid-run Warriors.

There are eight teams that have more playoff success than Dallas has had in the Prescott Era. Yet the way they are the top story every day you'd think they were the Brady Patriots

Yankees aren't quite as bad, but only because baseball gets hind tit in the sports talk world.

Is Rome even in syndicated radio or TV anymore? I kind of miss that guy
Loved Romes stereotype bits. Gym Guy. Softball Guy. The list goes on and on. They were funny as all get out. Of course the best Rome moment was when he got punked by Jim Everett. Rome was a love/hate relationship with me. He was good at what he did when he stuck to his guns but his long pauses and ways to get under peoples skin grew tiresome.

Yeah, maybe a podcast or something to avoid boredom. He is well past normal retirement age.

It’s a shame you can’t drop a racial slur like the N bomb without the media getting all over you.

It wasn't that. It was the pollyanna "my mommy told me never to use that word" approach to the topic. He's a phony. He's why Troy Aikman left Fox.

After his comparison between Reese and Clark for rookie of the year, I knew he was a fool and needed to go.

Obligatory:

That is ownage, I like Cuban in some ways but as he’s gotten older I don’t like a lot of his views. He is intelligent and obviously successful and showed what the media was. I did notice that Stephen A was at a loss for words. He didn’t wanna get schooled either.

Probably watched 5 minutes of his show since leaving ESPN. Do know he is a huge COWBOYS- VANDERBILT fan and graduated from VANDY.

I think they'd be more watchable if they strayed a little from the Lakers, Cowboys and Yankees.

Or just the NFL in general. Once the NFL network came into existence ESPN has had a life scare and will not shut up about that league. And l’ve always held your more rabid fan isn’t even that into the NFL compared to other sports, it’s just that it’s easy to follow because it’s once a week when most people are off work, and the contact. Even around Nashville growing up in Tennessee, I knew people who liked the titans sure, but I rarely ever met a hard core fan. Just a lot of people that watched on Sunday and casually followed. The fanbases are nothing like college sports or even MLB fans to me. Very casual.

But ESPN will have an hour long piece about what some coach you’ve never heard is doing on the hot seat of some team nobody cares. Then the discussions about the need to improve the left tackle yada yada. Can’t imagine anyone at home really cares about the Bears 3rd coach in 9 years and how he’s on the hot seat after missing the playoffs by a game.

ESPN is just a blah network. I thought FOX had some more entertaining segments and shows going but of course they screwed that up. And ESPN and their social engineering ugghhh, I’m good. Hearing Steven A Smith screaming “brotha” with extra emphasis to sound as black as possible because he has a complex after Kwame Brown nailed him yea I’m good.
