This picture brings to mind a question that's fairly off topic. But indulge me for a moment.

For several years now, pictures similar to this with the recruit in full uniform have become a common part of the recruiting process. Does anybody have any insight into when in the recruiting cycle these pictures are taken? Is there a standard?

Originally, I thought these pictures were taken after it was fairly obvious the kid was ready to commit. But long before this image, it seems the picture is taken much earlier in the process. I'm just wondering how that conversation is approached.

Almost every official visit, as well as longer unofficial visits, include time for a photo shoot. The recruit is allowed to choose from the various uniform options and poses for individual pics and pics with family, coaches, etc. The pics are sent to the recruit for use on social media (publicity for both the recruit and the school) and reserved for use if/when the recruit commits as well. So the photo session could be a year or years in advance of a commitment.
