Brendan Basser...he would have blocked Mason's shot, taken the ball, and made the half court shot to win it
Banked it so hard off the backboard, it would've shattered the class and knocked the earth into a different dimension.

If we get Jayson and Marques back we're the best team. If we get a healthy Giles we'll dominate and win a title. Our 2 best players haven't even suited up yet, after tonight I'm even more stoked about our chances this year.

I agree that with those guys healthy we are very, very good. With that being said I am not sure how we can continue to say that those kids that are injured are the best players on the team when they have not played a minute of college basketball.

I saw Jayson and Marques play at CTC. Jayson was the best offensive player on the floor and Marques showed that he's a huge presence down low. As far as best players on the team...too hard to call right now.
I would love to get all 3 back and decide who was the best at the end of the season.

It is something that is tough to say definitively but the way Duke has had freshman come in and be the best or close to the best player on the team recently....I don't think it is out of line to say something like that. Tatum and Giles are (depending on what source you look at) the top 2 rated players in their class. A class that many are calling the best overall class top to bottom, maybe ever. In 2015 I remember people telling me that Jones and Okafor were not the best players on the team before they played a regular season game. In this day and age, many freshman come in ready to excel.

Maybe you're right in this instance but what I will say is that SOME players (rare) are so good that you don't need to see them play one minute of bball to know if they are the best on the team. I didn't need to see Kyrie Irving play one minute of college ball to know that he was clearly the best player on the Duke roster in 2011. And the only reason Giles gives pause to being in that category is injury.

I get the debate, but there is so much information and tape out on these guys these days it's not far fetched to say. Secondly 2 of the 3 we have seen. As a poster above mentioned, at CTC, Tatum was the best player on the floor. Much like Kyrie in 2010-11, it took 1min to realize that he was the best player on the floor and that it wasn't close and that was with a couple starters and MOP from a National Championship team back. Bolden was very good in the exhibition game I saw him play and was very good at CTC. All reports from this summer and during the preseason were that he was really impressive.

Yeah, some guys you can just tell they will be something special. Scouts picked up on Lebron James when he was in middle school and as he went through high school it was obvious he was a transcendent talent. Basketball is one of those sports where great players can be identified early on, it's one of the reasons NBA teams started drafting teenagers. All of our one and dones have lived up to the hype while at Duke. We've had two 1st Team All-American OADs, Kyrie would have been one as well.
