It's waaay too early, one game into the season, to throw coaches under the bus. The mistakes last Saturday are very fixable. We've got some talent. Things are never as good or bad as they seem. Old Dominion may turn out better than most think. It does no good to talk about replacing a 1-0 coach. If he can't fix the fixable by the end of the season, then it's time to talk. Give it a rest.

What is fixable about the head coach saying a Sunbelt team runs a defense that our staff was incapable of preparing for?

We had the same amount of practice time as the teams that looked well coached. We did not. Hence the blast at the current staff.

He went way overboard in his explanations for a pi$$ poor performance with the unschemeable (not sure if that's a word) defense comments which gives a worrisome feeling of incompetence to the fanbase. What other SEC coach would make that comment I ask?
I want Beamer to succeed and be Carolina's long-term solution, but he needs grow up much faster.

I just want somebody to succeed. Long term would be even better.

Spurrier would just say “we’re not a very good football team right now.” Not sure why Beamer feels the need to insist we’re a good team when we obviously are not. It just makes you question his ability to properly assess.

Jeff Lebby in his first game against Eastern Kentucky beat that FCS team like they should have, 56-7. He said "the ball got on the ground too many times". Another comment was "We got down near their goal line, didn't score and botched a field goal. We have to play better. When we get down there. the expectation is we have to score a touchdown"

Those are the kinds of comments I like to hear.

Hey, I'm pulling hard for him. I want nothing more than a win over Kentucky on Saturday so I can let out a big sigh of relief and write off our poor showing last week as an aberration. But I don't have a lot of optimism that will happen.

Shane, is that you?
No, just a rational adult with a good grasp of life's priorities. Probably also understands that the coach is speaking under obligation and is not concerned with putting forth a biblical epistle one could base their life on in the pressers. Neither Shane nor the players give two craps about Freddie Fan and Reggie Reporter; they play for each other and for their coaches.

If they are playing for each other and their coaches then they really must not like each other and their coaches

We lost a lot of games when I was a student, and THANK GOD we didn't have social media or message boards to relive every stat each week. After each stupid loss (and a lot of blowouts) we drank ourselves to sleep and moved on. We're still the same team caliber team we were back then... things haven't changed much on the ground. In the cloud it sure has, though. Now we beat ourselves to death each week discussing every minute detail - which are readily available all the time. And everything seems so much more desperate. There weren't calls every week to fire Sparky Woods or Brad Scott. We just ate the losses, moved on, and hoped for better the next week.

This desperation cuts across everything in our society - not just football. Information is good for betting, but bad for mental health. Anyway, that's the view from here. Don't get me wrong. I love debating everything from Loggains scheme to what color the stripe is on the pants. I just think it is extremely overwhelming.

PS - I don't think we have a chance in hell vs. KY this weekend. That's from a feeling that isn't related to any of the huge amount of stats I devoured this week. It's from being a Cocks fan for 40+ years.

Cheers! and I look forward to seeing you in the game thread on Saturday.

It's his 4th season. He's gotten no better and arguably is worse. His slight success came 2 years ago with someone else's players. He's prickly, stubborn and thin skinned. And he can't coach.

Yeah, let's be even more patient and generous to this guy.

Oooookay, missed the joke there. I'm not on the jumping ship board at this exact moment either.

What's the alternative to being patient when we're only one game into the season?

I don’t think it was all on the staff but I also can’t excuse the plays that was not call either.

Wait...we have a game this week? I thought we were just counting the days until the Clemson game. Where have I been?

I agree with ALL that. He is thin skinned. We are the only school that has taken a chance to give that a guy a Head Coaching job in the most prestigious college football conference in the nation. Even if he is not, he should act appreciatively of our stupidity to make him the Head Coach.

I got it from you telling someone to pick another team. Is that what you did?
I don't like it when an apparent fake fan comes on GCC and criticize the coaches. I'm going back to the Insiders Forum. This side is full of fools, aholes and opposing teams fans.

I was right. They came from the Insiders and apparently with a prepared script. Wonder if they were paid. So pathetic.

You don't know what site you're on? You must be really stupid. Go back to the children's table ahole.
FYI, I am 69 y.o. and I have a high IQ. The reason I was on the free forum was that I clicked on the top latest post and didn't notice which forum. Most Carolina alumni and fans don't come on here to just be exactly what I discribed you as being.

Pathetic.
