We lost a lot of games when I was a student, and THANK GOD we didn't have social media or message boards to relive every stat each week. After each stupid loss (and a lot of blowouts) we drank ourselves to sleep and moved on. We're still the same team caliber team we were back then... things haven't changed much on the ground. In the cloud it sure has, though. Now we beat ourselves to death each week discussing every minute detail - which are readily available all the time. And everything seems so much more desperate. There weren't calls every week to fire Sparky Woods or Brad Scott. We just ate the losses, moved on, and hoped for better the next week.
This desperation cuts across everything in our society - not just football. Information is good for betting, but bad for mental health. Anyway, that's the view from here. Don't get me wrong. I love debating everything from Loggains scheme to what color the stripe is on the pants. I just think it is extremely overwhelming.
PS - I don't think we have a chance in hell vs. KY this weekend. That's from a feeling that isn't related to any of the huge amount of stats I devoured this week. It's from being a Cocks fan for 40+ years.
Cheers! and I look forward to seeing you in the game thread on Saturday.
