Week 1 SMC Picks

Pisgah 27 Murphy 20 ( I expect this to be a great close fought game i just think Pisgah has a lot more depth and will pull away late, Pisgah returns 11 starters including QB Griffith and Wr/DB Hudson as well as FB/LB Cseledy back who was out with injuries last season, Murphy lost a lot of skill players the didnt have a few more come out, but they will have a huge dominating line on both sides of the ball and if the skill players stay healthy and the young QB comes around they could contend with anyone)

Smoky Mountain 38 Robbinsville 31 ( Mustangs return all starting lineman on both sides of the ball and big RB/FB Frady who rushed for over 1,200 yards last year, His Brother is also a beast on both sides of the line, they will have a new QB which could take time to get used to, Robbinsville has leading rusher Anderson as well as 2 other very good rushers behind him, and from what ive saw a passing game and quick WRs this year, just think the game may be determined on the Line and defense)

I Hope im wrong with these 2 picks because i wanna see SMC win them all

Swain 49 Life Christian 6 ( they prob want score at all but im giving them a late 4th Q TD, Swain is returning a very good quick RB in Sain and a good running QB who i think will improve passing and a improving Line this season, i know nothing about LCA but i know they are a private school and shouldnt put up much competition)

Cherokee 24 Polk 20 ( I think both teams will be down this season, both plays in very tough conferences, i dont know much about Polk but i know they lost a few key players, Cherokee lost Mintz to transfer and a lot more to graduation, but they return senior Qb Crowe and Santa Maria as well as a few big lineman)

Andrews 31 Trinity Academy 27 ( I know nothing about Trinity besides they are a tiny private school and that they do return QB, Andrews returns several key skill players in Holloway,White,Gillespie, nut i know they lost 2 lineman one to transfer, and a couple keys players to graduation Sheppard and Mathis)

Hayesville 41 Towns Co 10 ( Jackets were ate up by the injury bug last season, they have several skill players that are good both McClure kids, FB Smith, WRs Krieger,Ivester and Deese, Freshmen Lundsford and Gillis, the line is kinda small which will be a weakness as well as Defense, and they already lost big 6"7 TE/DE McTaggart for the season, but i dont see them having any problem with Towns Co who could barely field a team this season)

I know nothing about them but I'm hearing Life Christian Academy out of Atlanta is pretty good. They won the State championship last year in their class..

What happened to McTaggart? Will it effect basketball?

I'm picking 1. Pisgah. 2. Robbinsville 3. Swain. 4.Polk. 5.Swain. 6.Andrews. 7.Hayesville. 8. Tigers over Enka. I think the best games week one will be pisgah/murphy, I believe it will be a dog fight.I think Robbinsville will handle SM.

Murphy 28 Pisgah 26 - Murphy is extremely hard to beat at home. If you can play the first week against a younger Murphy team, then this is your best chance. Murphy still in a close one. One play difference in this one.

Smoky 32 Robbinsville 21 - Smoky is primed for a good season and Robbinsville will not be able to control the line of scrimmage. SM spread is well coached and well executed. Only difference in the game is which first year quarterback has a better game.

Swain 38 LCA 7- Hard to predict this one. Life Christian Academy could have had several new transfers which would make this a different game. Never know with this type of team in ATL. Swain will be ready and will bring the wood and a woodshed to the ATL.

Polk 28 Cherokee 7 - Polk has had some transfers and they seem to be picking up where they left off from last season.

Andrews 28 TC 14 - Andrews running game is the difference in this one. Very winnable game and a good way to start off the season.

Hayesville 28 Towns Co. 14 - Hayesville will be able to run the ball vs Towns and they can play physical enough on defense to get some stops. Hayesville has a favorable schedule and may get off to a perfect 4-0 or 5-0 start.

Enka 32 Rosman 12 - Enka by 20 in a close game in the first half then they settle down to pull away in the second half. Enka will be able to run the ball vs Rosman and maybe even work on their passing game late in the second half.

The most honest assessment I can give is ... this is the year that no one can predict. The Big 3 are all good and are capable of beating the others. If I were a Swain or Robbinsville fan, I would be just as hopeful and excited as I am now as a Murphy fan. I'm excited for the season. I hope the whole conference has a good showing in the non-conference schedule.

Not going to make any predictions but I will say this, if my Knights can some how get out of Jackson co ( Carr-Hooper) with a win on Friday night we will be a double handful for anyone we line up against! I know we’ve talked all summer about Robbinsville having a good team , strong running game w a veteran line and we’re ranked in all the polls and all of that mean nothing, zero, squat .... we can see what we got Friday night. From what I hear and a little research the Mustangs will be one of the better if not the best team we’ll play this year . Good luck to my Knights and to most ( hahaha) of our SMC brothers. Go Knights

You can bet that will be one of your most difficult games of the season, but I'm pulling for your Knights. 30 Robbinsville - 28 Smokey.

Murphy over Pisgah 35 to 28 just because Murphy has the home field advantage.
Robbinsville over Smoky Mountain 28-13. Just feel like Robbinsville is the better team.
Swain over LCA 42 to 20. I think Swain has a lot better year than last year.
Polk over Cherokee 49 to 13. Cherokee has a new head coach and doesn’t seem to have the number that they usually have. Think Polk runs away with this one.
Andrews over TC 35 to 14. Andrews has a great group of athletes this year and I believe they will surprise some people.
Towns County over Hayesville 28 to 21. Hayesville has already been hit by the injury bug and I think this one come down to the wire with Towns just edging by the Jackets.
Enka over Rosman 28 to 12. I look for this to be a close game in the first half but the Jets will pull away in the 3rd quarter.

I totally agree and the next 4 is the same. On any given night the bottom four could beat the other. Looking forward to this season
