As I posted in another thread, Memphis lost by 41 and I was wondering if their fans were wanting to fire Tubby and get rid of most of their players?

I didn't see the last half of the 2nd and had no idea the final was 103-62.

SMU is playing at a ridiculously high level. It's a shame they have no depth, otherwise they could cause some serious damage in the dance.

It could all come crashing down if any of Simi, Shake, Ben, Sterling gets Shea Seals'd in the first 8-12 min. Then again, they are playing so well, that losing someone a key contributor to early foul trouble just means they only win by 10-20 pts.

If they run the table in Hartford, IMO they're looking at a top 4 seed, maybe higher if they continue to run up the scores like the classless bastards they've become.

They're really good, but Janko is classless letting them play their aggressive style with starters on floor up 30+ with 5:00, jacking 3's and pushing the tempo.

KJ Lawson is coming back...Dedric is maybe 50-50 but I bet he goes NBA G-League (that's that new gatorade sponsorship) now that their starting contract is 76k

Memphis has a four-star guard and a couple of three-star big men.

If Dedric comes back, Memphis will be an NCAA tourney caliber team...if not, I expect another 18-20 win season.

Memphis has athletic players...Tubby wants smarter players. Seriously, Pastner recruited guys who could play the game as well as anyone...they couldn't adjust to the different scenarios the game presented and he as a coach was limited in his ability to help them with that. Tubby is one of the best at that.

I'm patient but not all Memphis fans are...Tubby would be wise to offer a six-figure raise to KJ and Dedric's dad who's on staff...that could keep them all in Memphis one more season...but does Tubby want to play the game? he better be if he wants to make it recruiting at Memphis.

I'm not convinced Memphis will ever return to national prominence. But, I hope for the sake of the league, I'm wrong. It was all about Calipari's recruiting/cheating.

history does not agree. Memphis has a Final Four in the 70s with Gene Bartow and Larry Finch. In the 80s Keith Lee lead Memphis back to the Final Four. In the 90s Penny Hardaway and Elliot Perry led Memphis to an Elite Eight and a Sweet 16. Then Calipari's run of Elite Eights, a Sweet 16, and a Final Four in the early 2000s...that's decades of success...Memphis has shown time and time again: every time you knock us down, we get back up.

Tubby really reminds me of a more well spoken Larry Finch...old school coach who relates to inner city kids well.

the 2018 and 2019 Memphis classes are loaded...Tubby needs 2-3 of these kids:

That's a pretty short-sighted comment. Larry Finch had a pretty successful run as did a couple of other guys...nothing like what Calipari did mind you, but the Penny Hardaway years were pretty fun to watch. There's plenty of top basketball talent in and around Memphis that they will always be relevant. Again, the reason they haven't had success in the AAC yet is they were held back by Pastner's limited ability to coach a dime into being 2 nickels. GaTech saved Memphis basketball IMO.

Tubby will get them rebuilt and functioning at a much higher level pretty quickly.

you also have to consider that Memphis talks about 18-19 win seasons where we average over 9k a game like it's the end times or something...

Yes. We've been there. Let's go to the NCAAs, replace 80% of your minutes, points, and every other statistical category and wonder why you're lurking around .500 with a pretty competitive schedule. It's the end times here as well <SMH>

To be fair though our attendance situation does require some urgency.

There's a reason I didn't mention attendance. Football team wins 10 games and we can't get anyone to come out and watch them. Last year's basketball team goes to the NCAAs and was there the whole year and we couldn't get anyone to come out. NCAA regionals are here next week and we better hope KU is here or the arena will be empty.
