chanting FU Buddy when he's at the free throw line...

No wonder that state is considered a cesspool
Yeah, I caught that too. Just before the half with Buddy on the line.

Amazing neither Vitale nor Musberger acknowledged the vile chant and fans.

Vitale? He laughed off what Shaq said as a joke.
By the way, auto correct just changed his name to "but ale". That's a flavor I wouldn't care to try. Lol

Vitale is so annoying - I can't hardly listen to the guy. ESPN should probably put him out to pasture already.

And Buddy came out still talking good things about Simmons at the LSU team. #winner

My wife turned the sound down with about 5 minutes to go in the first half because she couldn't take my constant bitching of Vitale any longer. I can't stand that guy and end up mocking his annoying voice. Wife says Vitale in stereo is too much. Actually I enjoyed the rest of the game without those two old farts getting in the way of a good contest. Vitale makes the game about him more than anyone on TV and Musberger is his straight man, which makes it even more annoying.

I agree bama, both are very annoying. I do like musberger better when he is doing football games though. Vitale should have been fired long ago

I think both old dudes would blow Simmons if he'd agree to it. Never heard so much praise for a player who didn't produce much in their biggest game of the year (playing #1) and for a team that played way above their heads but still lost.

Agree Vitale needs to head to pasture. What an ***-clown.

I was at the game with my family and we were treated well. Many stopped us before and after the game to chat with us even congratulating the Sooners. So not all as you suggest.

Can say they are boisterous about loving their Tigers.

It's ridiculous to even mention Simmons in the conversation for POY with Heild

Pryor.... I was at the 2003 National title game so I have to disagree with you! 10% of the fan base is good the rest is disgusting

I suppose I'm in the minority, but I like Vitale and Musburger. They put some excitement in the game when it is deserved. Okay, sometimes when it's not, but I love that Vitale loves the game and shows it every broadcast. I understand why it might not be somebody's cup o tea, But especially this year, he's taken OUr two most important road games of the year and made them special. And his praise for Buddy, gives OUr best player a national credibility that he deserves.

Has Buddy earned it? Heck yeah. But the anointing from the country's biggest cheerleader will make him much more likely to receive every award he deserves. Everybody who complains about ESPN's fawning over the SEC in football, can surely understand that when Dickie V said that if the award was given right now, it should be Buddy, that it is that way.

And it's still a crime that he's never got to broadcast an NCAA tournament game.

I'm with Plaino. I too love Vitale's passion for the game and when he's combined with Musberger, there is no finer broadcasting team for college basketball. I love the way Brent sets the scene and Dick brings the excitement of the game. Great duo.

Continuing in this vein, I really appreciated the kudos they gave to Lon Kruger. They said the team's personality reflects that of its coach and they couldn't be more right. Our team never gives up, is calm, poised, and focused--regardless of the outcomes which have been mostly positive this year, I might add--and that goes straight to Kruger and his staff.

Oklahoma is not, and probably never will be, a true "blue blood" in college hoops. That said, the current list of college basketball coaches better than Kruger is a pretty short one. He reflects superbly on the University of Oklahoma and we're unbelievably lucky to have him.

You can do a lot worse than having Dick Vital throwing you props during a game. The more of Buddy's games he does the better for Buddy.
