It didn't seem like luck. Nice quick release. Looks like shooting is what he does. An Indy fan told me that they needed a pure shooter like that.
... But I’d be thrilled to get 9-12 points a game from him and Taylor each.
Good point.... if those two just take turns being hot, it changes the look of our offense. The whole floor opens up. Now, we just need guys to slash into the paint to take advantage of that.Yes he can do it again. Consistently? Unlikely. But I’d be thrilled to get 9-12 points a game from him and Taylor each.

Falzon can play a big role on this team. It's not only the shooting, but he's roughly 6 8" which helps with our d and rebounding. He had a couple nice blocks last night. He's actually one of the more talented kids on the team- he just couldn't stay healthy which is a shame. Hopefully he won't get hurt again because he's a nice rotation piece - esp if Nance is out for a few weeks with mono.
Be nice if he stuck around for next year too, but I assume as a RS-Jr he will have the credits to graduate and move on if he wants.
If he stays healthy, no reason he couldn’t get 25 min/game next year. We lose Law and Taylor so 2 starting jobs open and we need senior leadership. As it stands looks like Gaines and maybe Turner our the leaders next season. Falzons joy for the game would be valuable.
Disagree. I was smiling right along with Aaron during his big game last night, but he’s not going to be a 25 mpg guy as long as he’s here. He just isn’t quick enough on defense. Had a couple nice plays last night but he can’t really jump or move his feet quickly.
I see his role this year and maybe next year as the same as Taphorn’s during the tourney run. Instant offense off the bench, takes some pressure off the main guys as they run set plays to shake him loose. And hope he doesn’t get burned on the other end.
This was an outstanding game but no one should expect him to score 21 points on eight 3-pointers (counting the one he was fouled on) again.
No, the more appropriate question after last night and being fully aware that Falzon is our best three point shooter on the team or best three point shooting forward, is if he would have played 5-10 minutes in the UM loss at home by 2, the Indiana loss in Bloomington by 2, the OT loss at home to Oklahoma and the Iowa game which was tight until our starters were exhausted with 4 minutes left with the game being a 1 or 2 possession game, the outcomes would have been different. As it stands right now, those tight losses might cause us not to make the NCAA tourney and maybe the NIT tourney. So that is the more relevant question because now Coach Collins has to play Falzon as Nance is out with mono for the next month or more.
Also, last night, Greer played some key minutes on offense and defense. He needs to play more also.
He sure picked up Taylor's slack. Offensively Talor had a real off night, finally getting one three to drop. Up to last night, I think he had only missed one free throw all year and then he missed three in a rowYes he can do it again. Consistently? Unlikely. But I’d be thrilled to get 9-12 points a game from him and Taylor each.
Nothing wrong with Tap's role. At the same time I was pleasantly surprised at his D last night. 15 minutes per game instant O 45% from 3. Not a bad role player if he stays healthy and takes some pressure off of Kopp and Nance as Frosh. For next year with Taylor and Law going, I could see him getting Skelly minutesDisagree. I was smiling right along with Aaron during his big game last night, but he’s not going to be a 25 mpg guy as long as he’s here. He just isn’t quick enough on defense. Don't know as his release was very quick. He likely will not go 6/7 but he can still make an impactI keep wondering why Falzon got the nod over Kopp. And knowing he is roommates w Nance, I think it is possible Kopp is showing early symptoms and was not really available.
Without Nance and Kopp for an extended period, adding Falzon and knowing Ash is done (did I mention the ever unused schollie), we are amazingly thin.
It was a great win with an amazing individual effort and, despite their recent demons, a more significant win than IL or Rutgers.
I think we continue to be in trouble esp if we lose Kopp and Nance. Falzon won’t sneak up another team.
That said, I hope this win was a learning opportunity for CCC and I hope he grasped it.
Even if Nance gets really good, this slight setback is likely to keep him around for an extra year which isn't the worst thing.I answered yes, because I think some day he might hit 6 of 7 3's again.
OTOH, if he can stay healthy and shoot 3's near 50%, he'll lift the team. As of now the league knows they better guard him closely. Should open up the game a little for Pardon and Law.
Taylor shoots a little better, Kopp finds his comfort zone, Nance finds health and then his comfort zone, Falzon shoots the 3's... there's a lot exciting that could happen next game. Really too bad about Nance.
Falzon just can't wait for the next game.
GO CATS!

You think he wants to stick around another year?Disagree. I was smiling right along with Aaron during his big game last night, but he’s not going to be a 25 mpg guy as long as he’s here. If he finally got a chance to play because finally healthy, yesYou think he wants to stick around another year?

There's zero foundation for your assertion that Kopp may have caught the same illness as Nance.
Falzon is the more natural "stretch 4" like Nance, while Kopp is more of a wing. And Aaron was hot from the moment he stepped on the floor. That explains why he got more playing time.

If Kopp had mono, he would not have been medically cleared to play.Zero foundation? Sorry esquire. Let me help you with the simple: they are roommates, Kopp has played every game and for significant minutes, Falzon has played a total of three games this season and not regularly in recent past, Falzon has showed nothing in game time to jump Kopp is CCCs position less game.
Btw genius, which stretch 4, or power 4 for that matter, started the game?
Here is the beauty: this week, we will know. Kopp hasn’t earned more bench time and besides, if sick, it will be revealed.
If Kopp had mono, he would not have been medically cleared to play.
Didn’t say had. Suggested early symptoms. If he is dx w mono, he won’t even be around the team for awhile. Ever had mono? Energy gets sapped quickly is a big indicator that it’s not a cold or flu.
I wondered about that for students in general. What happens when any kid gets mono? Do they send them home, or get them a single room? I remember the old student health place across from Scott, what a pit.....hate to be quarantined there!I'm certain that the team is taking extra precautions to ensure that a player is not playing with a communicable disease, early symptoms or not.
Great story.I remember the old student health place across from Scott, what a pit.....hate to be quarantined there!
That is exactly where I was lodged with a case of mono back in 1959. I'd never heard of the disease then. Was going stir crazy and managed to talk my way out of the health service to go on campus for an evening event. Doc gave me a pass and I left chuckling, feeling full of vim and thinking I'd beaten the system. Got as far as Sheridan Rd and was so exhausted I had to sit on the curb before continuing. Rather humbling, it was.

Hey! I was going to say that!Thinking it will be tough for Falzon to replicate his performance now that teams will gameplan for him. But that,, of course creates other opps. for our offense, which can only be a good thing...
Hey! I was going to say that!
I'll be curious today to see if Wisconsin pays closer attention to him and if anyone else can get hot.
Yup, I think that will actually be the key today. If they overcompensate on Falzon, and Taylor or someone else can take advantage, I believe we have a real chance here. If not, could be a long afternoon...
If Falzon and Taylor can hold their own on defense, having them out there with Law and Pardon would create quite an offensive line up.
