Softball Question

I’m sure this has been answered before but why doesn’t softball teams ever play on turf? I sorta have an understanding as to why but curious if there’s a specific rule against it.

Don’t think there’s a rule against it. Lex Catholic HS has a turf field. I would think there’s college teams out there with turf fields.

GRC has a really nice turf field - more teams are going to it-

Lex Cath and other schools play on the schools turf football field.

let’s just say not all turf is comparable for a softball field.

I think turf hardness would change the odds of getting a batter out at first in favor of the D. Harder to "kill" a bunt. Would circle & batter's box be turf?
