- Loved the throwback to Clifford trick play. I am not an X and O guy but I know that is a basic trick play probably inspired by the Ohio University Game
- I did not know we had such a poor 3rd down conversion stat. That stat is probably misleading since we tend to score quickly on big plays
- Auburn had a lot of offensive yardage yesterday (> 400) and a lot big 3rd down and long conversions. As mentioned I am not an X and O guy so were most of those long 3rd down conversions where we played a soft zone prevent defense? I tell you nothing gets the BP going when those plays happen.
- Jake Pinegar had a good kicking day. He has decent leg strength and games like this help with his confidence. I can see games down the road coming down to his ability to make that winning field goal.
- Defense had a good game despite my point #3 above. It was a pleasure to see our defensive line get penetration and have their QB run for his life. Several Sacs, Tackles for loss were up, a couple of interceptions and holding Tank B in check were all positives. Good to see Isaac back, Carter is a beast, Mustipher still working his way back.
- Like the fact that we may have a running game now. Offense had a well balance game from a passing and running point of view. Oline did a nice job protecting Clifford and opening up some holes. No interceptions or sacks (?) – have to love that
- Even though we were winning big the refs should have called that offensive holding on Auburn late in the 4th. It was not even close since our guy was basically wrestled to the ground. I thought the tackle on Auburn moved early a few times but was never called for false start.
- Hated that 4th and 1 call early in the first quarter where Clifford was stopped. I am not a fan of that play since it reminds of the bowl game last year where we got stop on a very similar situation in the first quarter. It’s a risky play that I think you run later in the game once you get a better feel for the defense.
- This team is fun to watch. They have confidence and are gaining experience.
