Trading Crypto?A lot of movies could not be remade with the same humor today. Folks could easily ruin these films with political correctness and whatnot.
What would 2025 Trading Places look like?![]()
In my top 5 w/ The Hustler and a few others. They're the ones I stop to watch when I see them on.Jaws. The cast. The adventure. The suspense. The horror. The music.
Knew someone would go there eventually.“Taboo 2” with Kay Parker and Honey Wilder can’t be improved upon, imho.

Zac Brown Band opened for Kenny Chesney last summer and covered it live in their set. It was strangely good.Song - Bohemian Rhapsody. In fact, outside of karaoke amateur hour, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone of significance attempt it.
The is a Zac Brown Band cover of it out there. It's not Queen, but it's not terrible.Song - Bohemian Rhapsody. In fact, outside of karaoke amateur hour, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone of significance attempt it.
Movie - There are a lot IMO for lots of reasons, but the two I settled on are One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and Ferris Beuller’s Day Off. I think the biggest reason is there is no Jack Nicholson or ‘perfect age’ Matthew Broderick to do them.

Spector made them famous though. GC played guitar on You've Lost That Loving Feeling. I would guess Hal Blaine was on drums and Carol Kaye was on bass. It was one of his proudest memories. The Righteous Brothers version was a cover version. There were at least ten recorded cover versions before they got around to it. My grandma had both the Harry Belafonte and Liberace versions of it from the 50s. While I’m a fan of Phil Spector’s production work, I think his production of the Righteous Brothers’ version over complicated a good vocal performance.
Airplane was going to be my movie choice.Any attempt at Airplane, Used Cars, Blazing Saddles, Animal House, and some others would be ridiculously lousy.
As far as music, no one wants to listen to a computer enhanced voice cover a 60's or 70's song when youtube will give you the real deal.
I hate youtube with their 5 commercials before you can watch and listen to the song.Any attempt at Airplane, Used Cars, Blazing Saddles, Animal House, and some others would be ridiculously lousy.

You're describing my Dad's youth. Montgomery, PA.If you grew up in the 50's to early 60's, you recall that every community had an adult baseball team. In some cases, fading or former major leaguers would "barnstorm" off the beaten path. I recall my brother getting autographs from the likes of Ralph Houk and Billy Hunter (who just passed and was the last living St. Louis Brown), when they played in Sunbury Pa. Satchel Paige pitched in Tharptown (right outside of Shamokin) on a field that was adjacent to a gas station my Dad ran.
Baseball was every day in the summer. Wake up, grap your bat, glove and a taped baseball and jump on your bike to look for some other guys to get a "game." This in addition to the "organized" teams most of us played on similar to Little League and later 13-15 age group. I walked several miles with friends to Bunker Hill (in Shamokin) at least twice a week to play in a summer league there.
Baseball was more than a sport to us. We knew the line ups and BA of every player in the majors.
Until I was 11, there were only 16 teams in the major leagues. Players didn't move from organization to organization. The reserve clause had players shackled to one organization.
So for me, the movie that will never be duplicated is "Field of Dreams." Like Doc Graham, I long for the smell of the fresh cut grass, the baby oil on my mitt. I'll never not tear up when Ray Kinsella asks "Dad" to have a catch.
Times have changed and I don't know if baseball is revered as it once was.....or if the game is passed down from father to son. But I know that I never said no when my boys wanted to have batting practice and those are some of my greatest memories.
