Walk to Romero.

Sac fly by Aviu all runners moved up. 1-0 Sooners.

Pendley hits it out opposite field. 4-0 Sooners.

Shaky start to the 2nd. We look tight.

E5 on a routine ball to Romero, booted.

Bunt for base hit, error allows lead runner to 3rd.

Grounder to Clifton gets to force at second, but the runner at 3rd scores. 1 out

Fly to left for the 2nd out.

Clifton into short right for a pop up for the third out.

headed to B2, Sooners lead 4-1

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

T3 Baylor goes in order.

Cargill, their lead of hitter was out of the box on a ball she was thrown out. 1 out. Strike out scored 2-3 2 outs. Pop to Clifton.

headed to B3, still 4-1 Sooners.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Clifton singles to right.

Knighten grounds to short on hit and run. 1 out, Clifton at 2nd

Romero grounds to short, no advance. 2 out.

Aviu singles to right center scoring Clifton. 5-0 Sooners.

Pendley rips it but snagged by the pitcher.

Sooners lead 5-1 after 3.

This is the best strike zone of the tournament so far.

T4 Got two outs, but Paige is having trouble throwing strikes. Down in the count single past Romero in a bunch at 3rd. Then on a 3-1 pitch, which is fouled off, runner called out for leaving early. It was WAY early. Sooners lead 5-1 heading to B4.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Baylor 2nd baseman fails to cover on consecutive bunts. Hatfield beat her to the bag. She just went to 2nd on Wodach's bunt. 1st and 2nd, no outs.

Arnold beats out a roller to short. Bases loaded no outs. I'd have called her out.

Mendes hits a rocket to center, but Hatfield doesn't test her arm.

Clifton, HPB scoring a run. 6-1 OU

Knighten flies to short left. Bases loaded runners hold.

Romero grounds to short.

Sooners lead Baylor 6-1 after 4.

Baylor gets two bunt singles. One lead off, one with two outs. Cargill's 2nd bunt hit. But Clifton throws out number 2 hitter for the third out. Pendley made a nice running catch for the 2nd out in short center.

Let's get 3 and end this thing.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Aviu pops out. Pendley swings at a rise up for the 2nd out.

Hatfield bloops a single to short right.

Wodach pops to short left.

Sooners lead Baylor 6-1 after 5.

B6 Rodoni replaces Selman in the circle. Sooners go in order.

Arnold out 1-3, nice play by the pitcher. 1 out.

Mendes K's on a change up.

Clifton grounds to pitcher.

Sooners lead 6-1 after 6.

The defense is not good tonight. Romero didn't get to a grounder. Base hit. Error on a throw on the next one Two on, no outs.

Knighten can't see the ball. She drops another ball at first a run in with those at the bottom of the order. 6-2. still no outs. Tying run in the on deck circle. Number 9 hitter pops to Lowary.

1st an 3rd, grounder 6-4 force at 2nd. run scores. 6-3

We won't lose if we play defense. Great team but the first baseman needs to catch the ball

She's caught everything all year. I think she was having trouble with the lights somehow. Plus, when Hatfield was playing short, she's showing off a little, instead of just making a solid throw to first, she hesitates, to show off her arm, then throws a sinker over there.

It wasn't the only throw she missed. I've never seen her miss one ball like that. Tonight, she dropped two, and didn't come off the bag to catch one that went wide.

As for the bracket, if we lose to UDub, then we go to the top of the loser's bracket. Saturday, A&M plays UCLA in the losers' bracket. The loser of that game goes home. The winner plays the loser of OU v Washington later Saturday.

Then whoever wins that, plays the 2-0 team who emerges from LSU v Florida. They'd have to win twice on Sunday, to make the two out of three finals.

So, the OU UDub game is EVERYTHING. Win tomorrow and you have to win one more to make the finals. Lose tomorrow, and you have to win three straight to make the finals, one Saturday, two Sunday.

Lose tomorrow, and your pitching depth becomes a big deal. Win tomorrow, and you rest til Sunday and only have to win one of two to make the finals. Friday night's game is huge if you want a real chance to repeat.

Nail I agree. While solid during the regular season, knighton has struggled at 1st as of late. We can't have another game error wise like we did last night as the competition gets tougher.

Wow Plaino, once again your brillant analysis and insight take center stage. You know for a fact that Macey was trying to show off her arm. The pure speculative manure you spew never ceases to amaze me. Really Plaino. I mean do you really believe that Macey was trying to show off her arm??? Oh, wait a minute, Macey hesitated. Therefore it automatically follows that she was trying to show off her arm. Here is what I saw. There was a runner on second base when Macey fielded a hard hit ground ball. The hesitation you refer to looked like Macey was bluffing a throw to first. Now why would she do this? Perhaps she was trying to draw the runner off second so she could tag her out. I think Macey knows her own arm. She evidently thought she could bluff and still throw the runner out at first. This was all on Knighten not being able to catch a knee high ball. Oh but Macey threw a sinker to first base. I wonder if anyone saw what I did or did you think that Macey was just showing off.

If it wasnt that, she was stupid. Up 4 in T 7, you make the routine play and forget the runner at 2nd. The runner made a little tap dance fake. She is meaningless. Not getting the out is a big deal. A senior darn sure better know that. I have seen her show off that arm from left on no chance plays, and at least once threw it away giving an extra base.

Ive seen a bunch of guys at short do the same thing in both softball and baseball, just to show they could.

But the bigger issue is with Knighten. Not sure what was going on last night, but I've never seen her look that shaky at first. I think the combination of new lights, and pressure, and Macey's gun which isn't what she normally sees from short. But it wasn't the only drop.

She also missed a pretty easy one hop throw last weekend from Wodach on a missed 3rd strike when the batter forgot to run and was lolligagging to first base, which should have been an easy out.

We have to play way way better defense is there is going to be a repeat.

I think UDub might be the best team that we face. They are a little like we were last season. They have other pitchers, but they really rely on one. When she's in the circle, and fresh, they're hard to beat. To win tonight, OU needs to bring their A-game.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Potentially a nice break for UDub. Thunder boomers on the way. If we don't play til tomorrow, and their ace gets extra rest. It would help them.

Now she is stupid and a show off. No where In my post did I say what Macey did was the correct thing to do. I just stated what I thought she was doing and why. So which is it genius? Is she stupid or just trying to show off her arm? In my opinion (sorry to use a phrase with which you are not familiar) she made an error in judgement. Yes, Mr. Know it all, with a 4 run lead getting the out at first base is first priority. But what you would have us believe is that Macey delayed her throw in a deliberate and calculated attempt to show off her arm. And to support that moronic conclusion you talk about a couple of times where Macy made that long throw from left field back to a base and one time threw the ball away. Wow!! It doesn't take a very big sample size for you to label someone as a show off, stupid, or bonehead . You remember Whitney Ellis Montgomery. She had an absolute cannon arm. I recall one time she over threw second base trying to pick off a runner. Luckily the center fielder wasn't a bonehead and she backed up the play. Oh well she was probably just trying to show off her arm.

The OU girls are not playing to showboat individual abilities. These girls are playing to win another national title. To label this as showing off sounds like some Sooner home-cookin'-thinkin in making something more than what it was.

It looked to me like she was worried about 3rd base scoring (unnecessarily) which made her throw late, hard & low to make it a circus catch at 1B which anyone would have difficulty completing. These are kids; ease on back everyone.

Things you guys obviously missed: without a doubt, she was showboating. Because it was done so fast, it was hard for the naked eye to see. But with the aid of slo-mo, rewind, and the pause button, I was able to catch what REALLY happened.

As surmised by most on this board, Hatfield, after making eye contact with the third base runner, as well as Patti Gasso in the dug out, used a fake out "throw" to keep the third base runner in check. This much is true.

But more subtly, she throws a sneaky sign to Shay at first base, telegraphing to her that she in deed WANTED the hitter to make it to first base, and that they need to Keystone Kop the entire play. Why, you ask, would she do this? Fair enough...good question.

When Parker exited the game, the players, through a series of winks, nods, and secret handshakes, agreed the game didn't "seem" tough enough. That the whooping they put on Baylor felt too easy. So, to at least get their adrenaline level up to "losing the spin the bottle contest to the third ugliest person at the party" level, they agreed to foul up multiple times that inning to at least give the Bears a sense of "we're still in it", only to pull the rug out from underneath them right after.

It's all on video, for all to see.
