So not sure why, but I woke up and saw the results of last nights game, and I sort of don't care that UNC won the title this year?

Sure, it is a shame that cheaters win, but it isn't like that is something new in life, you know?

This group of UNC kids doesnt seem like a bad bunch. And in the grand scheme of things, who cares? It isn't like them winning takes away from Duke or something. K still has five titles... As many as Dean and Roy combined. We are still one of the greatest programs in history. We are still one of the best schools in the world. I still wouldn't want to be a UNC grad or fan. Not for anything. Absolutely nothing has changed about Duke or for Duke fans since yesterday except Marques returning.

Maybe if I lived in NC, where my taxes went to UNC or something, I would care more... But I just don't. I think the whole cheating scandal has sort of taken them out of the legit picture for me or something. Sort of hard to explain. The rivalry hasn't mattered to me for years because of it... We are just in two different places. This feels the same.

I think I am truly in a place where I believe they are not legit in any way, shape, or form... A shrug and a wry smile is about all this brings. Feels good:)

Hoping we land Duvall and Knox. Glad Marques is staying. Fingers crossed that a couple more of our kids do, and we have a fun year next year. Congrats to the UNC kids, they seem like a good bunch. And I still know that UNC is the most cheating program in the history of college sports, and none of what they do matters. So... all is well with the world:)

This is a strange and unexpected reaction. I thought I'd be all pissed that the cheaters got rewarded for their delaying. But honestly, who cares? And it feels good.:)

I'm kinda like @DukeDenver who cares. My Facebook was filled with statuses of people who haven't posted in months and by people I didn't even know were UNC fans. Typical though. I told my son, "50 years from now UNC will still be labeled as cheaters and every title or game will be looked upon by everyone who doesn't live in Hell as kids who aren't eligible academically.

Thanks for helping me put this in perspective. I was feeling pretty disgusted last night. I feel a little better after reading your post. It will be a long time before the holes cut down the nets again but hopefully Duke can win two before they win their next one!

Let's Go Duke!!

Pretty much the same sentiment here as well dude1.

I do feel for those that live in Carolina, I am sure it is unbearable.

The thing that disappoints me is that I tend to wait all year to watch the championship game regardless who is in it and I fall asleep in the second half because the game sucked that bad and end up missing the one shining moment montage at the end to bring closure to the season. Oh Well on to next year! Go DUKE!

I live right in the middle NC and can tell you how bad it is. I despise the Holes and I've seen nothing but light blue last 2 weeks. The Holes winning it all is like Dukejay said: the final kick in the nuts with steel toe boots. Next season can't get here quick enough.

I did the exact same thing even when Duke kicked their *** for a second time this year. But the hole fans that I'm around chose not to reciprocate. They brought donuts in the office and wore their garbage to work singing and chanting. Typical

I certainly never root for Carolina in any capacity, but luckily I'm not the type to ever fret over or be bothered by their success. They are a blue-blood program, they are going to win. To worry about that is just not something I have time for.

Yeah, that is understandable. But outside of North Carolina, there are no North Carolina fans... so for most of us, it isn't much of anything, you know?

I couldn't bring myself to watch the last college game of the season which really bothers me.

I have no problem with the UNC team, it's just its fans and the attitude of the school.

But if they win or lose it doesn't affect Duke so I'm more concerned today about Bolden coming back and the potential recruits for Duke. I'll focus on that going forward.

Hah! Sure man, come on up... a lot more Duke fans in New Jersey than Carolina fans;)

I didn't know there were UNC fans in Kentucky. That's a bit strange. Yeah, I never see any UNC fans up north here.

It's the best rivalry in all sports because both teams raise banners.

As much as it sucks the way this year turned out for Duke with the embarrassment of talent they had, gotta tip my hat to UNC.

The ACCT win was harder than the NCAAT and Duke will always have that.

Bring in Trevon Duval and Kevin Knox, return Grayson and maybe Kennard, and time to go banner hunting!

All I can say is congrats to UNCheat. They played well all season and earned the NC. I'm not thrilled about it, but congrats to them.

I didn't care about our team as much as usual this season, so it was a lot easier not to hate it as much that UNC had a better season.

One of my brothers is a UNC fan, and he told me his oldest son burst into tears of joy when Luke Maye hit that shot against UK. I'd want my son (same age as that nephew -- first grade) to react the same way to a dramatic Duke win. I pulled for Gonzaga, but I realized I wouldn't enjoy a UNC loss as much as my brother and his kids would enjoy a UNC win, so I don't care much. It's easy to focus on their happiness and not worry about an offseason's worth of crowing from the rest of their fans. So what?

I've missed 3 one shining moments: 2005, 2009, 2017 (in 1993 I was actually cheering for UNC to win that game)

Hahaha, yep, it isn't worth it, LT! The sun is out, and it's a beautiful day here in NC, and I'm not going to let the Heel fans ruin for me. I'll be out running errands here shortly, and I'll be wearing my Duke cap proudly (as usual).

My Duke lapel pin adds that little bit of "arrogance" that drives them crazy. It's even more important to wear your dark blue in times of turmoil. Honestly, our last season wasn't too bad and things are looking good moving forward. Imagine being a Boston College fan.

If you are a BC fan, then last night was just another Monday and today another Tuesday. They don't have to experience the heartbreak and anguish that we are currently enduring.

Beating Louisville, UNC, and Notre Dame on consecutive days after having played the day before, too? 2-seed, 1-seed, 5-seed. It's nowhere near as important as the tournament UNC won, but as a feat unto itself, I can see how it measures up favorably to beating Oregon and Gonzaga with a day of rest in between. Or Butler and UK with a day of rest in between. The ACCT is more grueling. How's that? Are we allowed to say that on our own board?

Yeah how did UL and ND do in the real tourney? But tell yourself whatever you need to believe to feel better.

Which part of my being able to see some rationale to ajmitch's post are you objecting to here, on our board? 4 games in 4 days against teams who haven't played as many games in a row is an objectively more rigorous playing schedule than 2 games in 3 days against teams who've played on roughly the same schedule.

What do you want, exactly, here, on our board? I said in my post that it wasn't as important as the tournament UNC won. There's no question we'd prefer our situations be reversed, but other teams are entitled to identifying positive things about their own seasons... on their own boards.

As for feeling better, we're just fine. We've been highly congratulatory and open about how we wish it were different. What does it say about you that your victory celebration involves coming to another team's board and impotently trying to rub our faces in it?
