Ohio State apparently hosted him last Friday, lots of articles on Ohio State's interest form their recruiting writers, not much about Georgia's true intentions but he did OV there as well apparently. Looks like Ohio State wanted him for depth, like everyone else, but I'm sure our PT opportunity + what our portal guys just did with getting drafted, helped our cause.

Ohio State is reportedly set to host a pair of non-Power Four trench players this week, with former Georgia Southern defensive tackle Troy Pikes and former Sam Houston State offensive tackle Orion Irving heading to Columbus on Friday. Pikes would add to an Ohio State defensive line group that has been under a microscope of late due to its lack of depth

Neither should we, kind of puzzling.
I get the star rating and school aren't that inspiring but we had zero sophomore DTs on the roster. Helps fill that void left by McLeod transferring last year. GSU bio says he was 2 time all region and 5A all state. So he's got some football to him.

Not sure why it’s so hard to believe someone that signed out of high school with a non-power five school, could not be highly rated after a year or two of development. This is more the norm than not the normal.

My oldest son was a skinny 189 pounds class wrestler. He weighed around 185. By his second year in college, he looked like an NFL linebacker at 230 lbs. Night and day difference. I am thankful to have this guy, and I’ll never understand our fans wanting to tear down any and everyone before they know anything about them, or have seen them play. I could run down the list for you of all the names of great players that this very board tore down Before they ever arrived.

I certainly hope I'm wrong. But I doubt it. His rating is underwhelming and he's too small. He looks like a Vandy type pick.

I trust Ohio States coaches, UGA coaches and our coaches. Sounds like he has a lot of upside to me.

6'3 290 ain't too bad for 3/5 technique. Tonka's combine measurements were 6'3 284

Where do you get 290? He is listed at 270 in the portal. If he can put on 20 pounds of muscle in the next three months, that might be something. Again, I hope I'm wrong, and I wish him success, but there is just no reason for any excitement. He's just depth, and hopefully hidden potential.

Exactly why most give zero effs about or credence to this board’s blustering and sabre rattling. I come here to see if anything newsworthy is happening, and that’s about it.

Further down in the article it says he is 290. Something I've noticed since portal has taken over is that on3 doesn't always update measurements from HS profile. Your last sentence is exactly where we are in regards to our DT room. We aren't getting the blue chippers out of HS so we gotta go the other route until we can. Even then sometimes blue chippers flop and 3 stars develop into draft picks. Believe tonka and tj were 3*. Too many variables from 17,18 until 20,21 when they will be counted on to contribute. No reason for excitement, no reason for discouragement.

I assume he is just depth this year also(DT 5-7) but Barrett and Goodwine are done after this season, Gbd and hardy are draft eligible and who knows what happens with portal before next season. He very well could be our top returning DT next season. It's s just where we are in our DT room right now
