I was there the last time we played the Gamecocks and it was certainly rocking that night no matter what that player says. Now with history of poor football yeah I'm sure there have been many games in Commonwealth where the crowd has been nonexistent. But when we do have a decent team the crowd is almost always into the game.

I haven't seen the story so will assume it's true for the sake of argument. I've been to KY for the SC/KY game at least 10 times or more. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but even when it was "rocking" it was by far the quietest stadium I have ever been in except for Vandy. I think other posters hit it on the head so if the coaches give you a great product on the field, it will be easy to change CWS into a very uneasy place for the visiting team. And you guys will likely beat us (I hope not) on Saturday, but I don't think "hostile crowd" will have much to do with it. Your team usually rises up and plays well against SC for some reason.

The Gamecocks have a great atmosphere. We know that when UK beat them two years ago, the place was loud with JoJo Gone Wild.

I think some of you don't realize just how much a loud crowd and stadium helps the home team. Not only does it make it tougher for the visiting teams offense but it can also pump or keep the home team's players pumped up.

If that's the case then why is Rupp always so quiet? There can't be any kind of complaint about that product.
Because Rupp is full of elderly in the lowers, a fairly small student section, and its SEC basketball...when the ball goes in a hoop 30 per team it gets kind of old after awhile. College football games are out of college basketball's league. They are a lot more fun generally speaking. I have seen plenty of basketball first people admit that.

Just about every stadium is quiet compared to Williams-Brice. They bring it.

But in all honesty less than 10% of BBN is still excited or motivated. Luckily a large majority of BBN are tired of what they have seen and could give a behinds less if Stoops can yet again beat the same ole trash USCjr team. The majority are smart and understand you aren't going to force change in a program by filling the stadium. Sadly, some get excited over grass growing, so I see why they would be excited about this big time battle to see who is the 2nd (possibly worst) team in the SEC. Yippie, let me get the fam together and load up to see Stoops Poops give up another 40-50+ points. If we can give up 42 to NMSU's offense who didn't haave their star RB and basically whole offense, who isn't to say USCjr cant put up even more easily. You same people will be asking about a bowl if UK loses by only a few TDs.

You should give the pre-game talk to the team. You sound fiery.

Its loud during big games. The other games UK is usually up big- something that you don't have to worry about with UK football.

Kentucky football has always had a "reactive" crowd, even when we were winning some games. The stadium is quiet compared to almost every other school in the SEC. The truth hurts sometimes.

I would like to address something that is very very irritating, even more irritating than being a spelling nazi, which I am being forced to be right now. It is I COULDN'T care less, not I COULD care less and it's I COULDN'T give a rat's behind, not COULD! If you COULD care less or give a rats rectum, that means you do care, possibly even very much! It's amazing how many people don't even know what they are saying or how to say it anymore.

I agree with this and I think part of it is the lack of traditions. Same with basketball. It's just fans watching a game. Whereas if you go to any other stadiums you have cheers and chants they do every game. By everyone is as choreographed as Texas AM but everywhere has a couple choreographed things to get the fans involved. Something in unison sounds much louder than a bunch of nonsense. But you hear it all the time, especially basketball anytime Cameron indoor is mentioned; for some reason a big segment of our fans think we are too good for scripted cheers.

Our football atmosphere lacks stadium traditions. You go to any other SEC program and they have multiple things going on from preegame band traditions, to run out traditions to in game cheers. That's what makes an atmosphere impressive and not only relying on reacting to the product on the field.
