Something to consider.....What if Southern Miss and Florida have great seasons?

We may have lost to two good teams.

In fact, that's what I believe.

Trust me, I'm not happy about being blown out at Florida and losing to So Miss., but consider that we lost to good teams.

If UK can improve, this team very well may be better than Mizzou, South Carolina, and Miss State.

Just something to consider.....A different perspective.

It's not like we lost to New Mexico State or something.....

It's not even that we lost, it's the fashion in which we lost. Stoops has had 4 years, and a Florida team that has been pedestrian the last 2 rolled us and made us look like high school kids playing an NFL team. Yes, Fl will always have more talent than us, but clearly, they progressed and we regressed. There's no 2 ways around it.

I think the problem for many is that the belief was the USM game was one of the OOC games that was considered highly probable, if not a lock, to win. There were many comments along the lines of beating them badly. And many thought this could be the year to get the win in the Swamp seeing as how the Cats should have won there two years ago.

Agreed, but we should consider Southern Miss has a NFL QB on their team and a very good RB.

In addition, I've stated before I believe Florida's coach is one of the top 3 coaches in the SEC. Florida also has talent and will have a good season.

So yes, things have been ugly so far, but we will truly see if we've made any progress when we play South Carolina.

South Carolina is a must win to give us a chance at 6 wins.

I'm assuming that we beat NMSU.

If we lay down and lose ugly to South Carolina, Stoops is truly cooked. That is basically his last chance to remain at UK with any semblance of momentum.

6 years later

"Hypothetically, what if these other teams are just good?"

8 years later

"Hypothetically, what if all the teams we lose to have great years. (Then they finish 6-6 or worse)

10 years later

"Hypothetically, what if it's not Mitch? We've always sucked" (disregarding the mega contract deals with the SEC and ESPN of modern era"

12 years later

14 years later

"Hypothetically, what if Mitch isn't the problem?"

This is the opitomy of "thank you mr. Man beater my we have another."

Better than giving up your original position I guess. Carry on and keep fighting it!

Southern Miss was runners up in CUSA...Runners up, and lost a lot from that team, and had our previous OC, no we shouldn't have lost to Southern Miss. Florida had a hard time with UMass...UMass? WE had no offense or defense. Punter looked good. No UK is a hot mess right now

UK football : actually a good football program, we've just been losing to good teams for 50 years.

How about having a perspective that's not firmly up Stoops' azz with a close up look of his prostate.

Both games have represented a measuring stick for Coach Stoops.

USM- Facing a C-USA team that has a young coach that hired the OC that UK FIRED. They ABUSED our coaching staff by making ALL of the right adjustments. One of which was the afore mentioned FIRED OC just running over and through our defense!

UF- We played this team close the past 2 seasons, should have won in the Swamp if not for the Playclock screw job. We get ANNIHILATED on both sides of the ball in year 4 of Coach Stoops' tenure, meaning our program has regressed to the point it was when he took over the job!

Those 2 teams may be better than most thought, BUT, there is NO disputing that our program is WAY WORSE than any fan could have imagined it would be at this point in the Stoops Era!!

Being able to make no adjustments to stop a C-USA team in the 2nd half. Firing an offensive coordinator who comes back and lights you up. Being non-competitive in a conference game against an unranked opponent. Talk of players not playing hard. All of this in year four of your program is concerning.

Everyone does realize Florida beat UMass 24-7, right? And anyone watching that game would agree if UMass had an offense it would have been a game. BC beat them 26-7 the next week. So I guess BC and Patty ice are something special too. I will be laughing when Troy beats USM this weekend. Then people will say its because Troy should be #1. I have seen FCS schools look better games against top 10 schools than SEC UK did against non-ranked Florida. Florida could have put up 70-80 on us easy if they wanted,

Southern Miss is bad losS. Sorry. Florida has second or third best defense we face all year. Only behind Bama and maybe missouri. So not a bad loss. Just a bad showing.

there is a reason why CBS's People made fun of us all over the place. It was an embarrassing way to lose. CBS lost ratings big time... and you know they are mad as hell about it. I bet thats the last time they put faith in Stoops again to have him on CBS.

Southern Miss has an NFL QB??? You serious Clark??? He Threw 3 picks against our defense. NFL defenses will eat him alive. Color me not impressed with him. Their running game beat us. Not his arm.

UK stinks. We're 125 out of 128 teams in defensive ineptitude. Stoops was supposed to be a defensive guru and we're arguably as bad as we've ever been on defense. This team will be lucky to win 3 games.

The issue is simply this: No matter how good a cusa team is, it should NEVER beat an SEC team. S Miss, should be given credit for not quitting, but the bottom line is simple. Kentucky LOST the game more so than S Miss winning it. As for Fla, they have advantages Ky does not have. However, while it may always be more likely that we lose to them than we win, we should be competitive. Last year's game and the game the year before should be the rule rather than the exception. No excuses for the blow-outs.

After watching them for two weeks, Florida looks like a 3 or 4 loss team.

I don't care if USM wins 12 games, they are still a mid-major. Look at WKU last year in their storybook season. Squeaked one out against an SEC bottom feeder and lost to IU.

Now that Muschsmp is gone look for more games like this past Sat. We were fortunate last year because it was just the new staffs second game with a QB making his first road start. Muschamp also left them with zero offensive linemen. My gosh they had to start an offensive line transfer from Fordham last year. They are just going to get better.

KY may or may not be as "bad" as some think. And regardless where UK ends up in 2016, there are some things to keep in mind:

1. Transitive properties do not apply to college football games. Games against a common opponent are no indicator of upcoming games involving any of the teams. Each game is unique, regardless the respective talent levels.

2. Teams are rarely static. They generally progress or regress over the course of a season. Characteristics true of a team in week 2 may not be so in week 7.
Some of this is due to coaching and player-development, some to injuries, some to team chemistry.

3. Don't put too much stock in the first week of a season. Teams have months to scheme & gameplan for their 1st game. Further, it usually takes at least 3 games to get a true picture of the relative strength of teams in a given season. Much of the early rankings are based on last year's results.

OMG!!! OP, you're right!!!!!!!!

I mean it's not like we blew a 35-10 lead against Southern Miss. And it's not like we completed more passes to Floridas defense then our own receivers.

Oh wait. Nevermind. We did both those things. We suck.

I hope many of you are eating crow soon when we beat NMSU and SC.

why would anyone need to eat crow for beating either one of those teams? If we lose either or even if NMSU is a closer game then should be then it only validates this teams ineptitude further.

In the last 90 minutes of game time, we have been outscored 89-7. We have given up a point a minute to unranked teams, and our 7 points were nothing more than sympathy against the second string D.

Find a positive spin on that and get back to me.

Nick Mullens is projected to be one of the first QBs taken in this years draft. Not excusing the loss as it was awful, but he is pretty good.

If S Miss won the nc, as far as I'm concerned, they are still a CUSA team and there's no excuse for not beating them.

The last 6 quarters that UK has played have been a joke and we haven't seen any improvement. As long as stoops is on the sidelines I don't think we'll get any better no matter who we play.
