Spain Trip?

They go around August 22. It will be an 11 day, 5 game trip according to a Trib story last Spring.

The last time I recall them going overseas was prior to juice's senior year (I think). This was the trip, of course, that Coble didn't join the team for.
Carmody's quotes about that trip were magic, along the lines of "That trip helped us. We got better. I was really happy we got to play older, physical, professional trade of men. And, I mean, I guess there was some team bonding, or whatever."
(Note: I am interested in neither Coble nor Carmody debates. It's just that the quotes were hilarious to me and Coble's non-attendance may be the reason some remember it.)

That sounds about right and in fact CC stated that while he was being interviewed in the Cubs TV booth yesterday. Said that they would be played 4 or 5 games against professional type competition. Sounds like a fun and useful trip for the guys.
The timing of that whole mess likely poisoned the whole season. No reason to think that will happen again.
It "poisoned the whole season"...which went on to be Northwestern's first ever 20-win season.
Just think, what if they had one 21. I still say it was a shadow all season, it kept being mentioned and talked about
I was wrong about the year (the Italy trip was summer of 2010), but not a 20-win season. They also won 20 games (for the second time in school history) in 2010-11.
